After over a thousand years, Celestia and Luna officially retired. They passed their princessly duties on to Twilight Sparkle and went whever retired alicorns go.
We have quite a bit of unexplained lore on their origins between G5 and G4's extra books that we got, but it's all a little convoluted on what exactly their lives are like or what exactly an alicorn truly is.Where do they go once they retire? Did they pass their immortality on to Twilight? We saw from the season 9 finale that she isn't aging like the rest of the mane cast. Is that a permanent thing?
