• Bleeding Cool Speculates That IDW May Be Moving Away from Pony License

Update: We've been told by a reliable source that IDW is in not losing the license. We are still waiting on official confirmation from them though so stay tuned!

An interesting editorial has been written up over on Bleeding Cool about the My Little Pony comic license with IDW. As someone not well versed in the world of comic releases, I'll let their explanation do the talking, but a general summary is that IDW's recent solicits hint that the much larger sized Storm of Zephyr Heights comic at $6.99 may be a sign that they are trying to finish it off before 2025. This trend continues with The Odyssey in their Classics re-imagined series, as well as Best Princess and Kenbucky Roller Derby. Apparently this is common as licenses lapse in the comic world.

According to them, this specific market targeting young girls is booming, so they speculate that IDW may be losing the pony license. They go on to say that another company may pick it up, or things could get reworked for 2025 like IDW's recent Star Trek license that some thought was lost before they announced more for 2025.

Either way, hopefully someone keeps the pony comics going at least!

Thanks to Andrew for the heads up!
