Everyone likes the Mane 6 episodes (well, I would hope so), but there are a lot of side character focused episodes in FiM. Episodes that focus on the CMCs, episodes that focus on the Student 6, episodes that focus on the Ryoal Sisters, episodes that focus on Spike (he's a main character but for this discussion he's a side character x_x), episodes that focus on Starlight and Trixie (or Sunburst), Slice of Life, etc. What do you make of these episodes? What are your favorite or least favorite ones?
I think these episodes add a lot to the show. It makes the world feel a lot more alive and deep overall to have the stories of other characters that are around and interacting with the main cast be explored. Now it is true that these episodes can take "time" away from the Mane 6 (as episode count is limited due to real world limitations), but honestly if every episode only focused on the main cast it would get a little bit stale after a while.
Some of my favorite episodes in the series are episodes that do not focus on the Mane 6 as well. I really like "A Royal Problem" and "Road to Friendship," among others. I really like the Royal sisters and Trixie as cahracters tbh, they are just fun. There really aren't *that* many bad episodes that don't focus on the Mane 6, but I can say season 8 had a lot of Student 6 episodes that felt weaker overall.
