Do you like Equestria Girls? Did you watch the movies? The specials? The shorts on YouTube?
I was really skeptical at first, but it ended up being alright when I watched it. I have some nostalgia and feelings for the first 3 movies even. I personally don't like the direction the series went after the fourth movie as much, but that being said some of the later specials are solid. I like "Sunset's Backstage Pass" a fair bit, for instance. Ultimately I do think there is some fun to be had in the series, but it's no replacement for FiM. It doesn't need to be that to be enjoyable though.
I think the best moments in the series are when there is a link between the human world and the pony world, and there are actual stakes for both worlds. This was the case for the first 3 movies, so that's a part of why I like them more. I also just think pony Twilight is a lot more compelling than Sci-Twi, but your angle may differ. Sunset is also the best character in the series :P
