The dust has settled from years gone past, but Starlight's inclusion to the show could be seen as controvertial. By now, most people tend to agree that it was a good thing overall, but here's the question: Was the show better before or after the end of Season 5?
Starlight's inclusion into the main cast of FiM splits the run time right down the middle; a lot happened before it, and a lot happened after it. While it's hard to directly compare the start and end of FiM (let's be real, the show changes quite a lot in its run time), in terms of quality of production I think it is better after Season 5. Now that's not to say the early seasons aren't good (or even better; I like seasons 2 and 3 the most), but I think the writing improved after Starlight joined the main cast (ignoring the obvious outlier bad episodes x_x). I also think that Starlight's character arc is perhaps the most compelling in the series after Twilight's character arc in seasons 1-3.
What do you think?
