No More World-building in G5?
By Otaku-sempai
Does the (apparent) end of Make Your Mark signal the end of any significant world-building in G5? The format of Tell Your Tale doesn't leave much room for expanding on the world or even for exploring any ongoing plot points. There will be 22-minute specials, but those seem to be few and far between. Make Your Mark could be either renewed or replaced with another 22-minute show, however, the next-best option might be to create a stronger continuity between the IDW comics and the animation. So far the comics have been a bit disappointing in terms of providing stronger writing and more interesting plots. I'd like to see that change. Am I the only one?
MLP What If. . . Celestia was Banished and Not Luna
By Double C
The very first episode talked about how Celestia and Luna once ruled together before Luna became Nightmare Moon. This was that no one appreciated what beauty the night has unlike what the day showed. As a result Celestia banished Nightmare Moon with the Elements of Harmony to the moon for a thousand years until she returned only to be defeated by the Mane 6. This was a good way for Friendship is Magic to start for Gen 4 but could have been different. Luna was seduced by her jealousy but could have been different if it was Celestia instead.
Even though Celestia is compassionate and motherly but was pompous in her young. Even though she changed, but the ponies giving more of her work would have brought this back. She would have been spoiled and arrogant to the point that she doesn’t want to lower the sun and keep Equestria in eternal day. When Luna opposed, Celestia would became the dreaded Daybreaker. To me Daybreaker is among the best villains, even in a short time, the MLP staff had made. This would show more of her personality and power than the show could. She seems to destroy anyone in a blink of an eye unlike Nightmare who toys with everyone.
Luna would use the Elements of Harmony to banish her to the sun much like Celestia did. Luna would take on the same roles of raising and lowering both sun and moon while doing her royal duties. But it would be interesting to see her involvement with the School for Gifted Unicorns. We never see her involve with the students and staff in the show after her return. One of her powers that would grow in a thousand years is her dream abilities. We know she been doing this since season 3 but imagine how strong they would be if her thousand year resign would perfect it.
But one thing the show should have Luna is her parental side. She showed to be more of an aunt figure. If she had the same motherly instincts like Celestia in the show, she would have been good towards ones like Spike and Gallus since neither one new their real moms. She would still show the same to both Cadance and Twilight if she was in Celestia’s place.
For the story, Twilight as Luna’s student would have warned about the return of Daybreaker. Luna gets imprisoned in the moon and Daybreaker would be more of a challenge due to her scorch earth approach. It would be interesting if Luna was Celestia size while Celestia was Luna size.
Addressing the Luna Bias (Again)

A while back, I did a soapbox entry discussing the overabundance of Princess Luna on Equestria Daily. It did feel a bit nitpicky, but you gotta admit that she's literally shoehorned into everything to the point that you kinda get tired of seeing her everywhere. And in the year or 2 since that entry was made, have things gotten any better? Hate to say it, but not really.
Luna is a character I have a complicated history with. Yes she's adored and practically worshipped by a majority of the fandom, but overtime I started to feel like she was becoming extremely overrated. Like, you couldn't go 2 seconds without Luna being praised for simply existing. And her being shoved into every single thing imaginable while her sister Celestia gets either ignored or bashed daily kinda rubbed me the wrong way. And should you dare say anything negative about Luna, you pretty much signed your will then and there.
So how does this all tie in with the Luna shoehorning that happens here? I mean, Celestia does get some attention from time to time, she still gets art fearured in Drawfriend posts. But compare the number of times Luna gets headers to Celestia. I remember around September or October when we literally got a Luna header almost every single day. It was absurd. Like, come on, Luna isn't the only Princess you know. Kinda makes something like Luna Day feel redundant since she's pretty much taken over the site. I know I'm not the only one who's getting tired of seeing Luna plastered everywhere.
And I'm not saying that we should just never have any Luna headers or that she should never appear in any capacity, heaven forbid. I'm just saying that she doesn't need to be a constant presence all the time. Poor Celestia and Cadence barely get any love, why not let them get some time in the spotlight for once? Luna isn't the center of the pony universe. It would be nice if Celestia and other lesser characters took the lead in some form or another. I dunno, hopefully this whole thing will be settled soon, because I don't want to revisit this topic in another year.

When a few slides of the plans Hasbro have for G5 in 2024, it seems like Make Your Make is coming to its end. This may or may not be true, but there is proof to back the idea. Hasbro seems to be putting a lot more time into Tell Your Tale, which would make sense, considering how well it has been doing. If all of the speculation is correct, then Tell Your Tale is destined to become the only and main tv show for the new generation of My Little Pony. Make Your Mark isn’t terrible, but stopping it would mean saving more money, time, and effort that could be put into a show that’s doing better. So I guess less content could be more, for Hasbro. I just feel like that if Make Your Mark does stop production, that would equal less content for us viewers due to the episodes of Tell Your Tale being shorter.
