Have a cute Lyra.
It's no secret the writing team for pony has been aware of us for a long time. How do you feel about the ways the show changed when it became self aware of our existence? This can mean anything from episode 100 to little inside jokes here and there.
Also, do you think G5 existing in it's current state has anything to do with the fandom?
Personally, I don't mind the fandom references in the show. It can sometimes be a little over the top (like with "Fame and Misfortune"), but I don't think they do any damage to the show overall (at least for G4). With G5, however, I think it tries too hard to follow G4. I don't exactly know why they chose to lean so heavily on the lore of G4 for G5 (it could be them trying to capitalize on the preexisting fan-base; I'm not sure), but I think it sabotages the personal identity of G5. Anyway, back to the point at hand, I also think "Slice of Life" was really fun. It's possible to enjoy it not being aware of the many fandom calls, which to me is the mark of a good reference.
