Sunk Ships That Had Potential

The show has had many ships throughout Friendship is Magic ranging from cannons like Big Mac and Sugar Belle to rejected like Rarity and Blueblood. Many fans have had their opinions on each one of either they would work out or not. It was hurt to see some romantic, crush, and teased ships to sink but that’s life in any fandom. These are the ships that had potential in the show.
Rainbow Dash and Quibble Pants was my second favorite Rainbow ship. Quibble is the best the show had introduce and voiced brilliantly by Patton Oswalt. Both looked like a couple when they played at the Daring Do convention and bicker then accepted their different opinions. What made him perfect for Rainbow is he would have been a stay at home dad. This way Rainbow would be with the Wonderbolts while Quibble would be caring for the house and kids.
Rarity and Trenderhoof was a better pair than him with Applejack. After re-watching Simple Ways so many times, I think Rarity had the better chemistry with him and the episode showed it if you pay attention to the signs. Both Rarity and Trent had a good moment before the writers ruined it. Both did odd, silly, and inappropriate things like changing themselves in order to get attention like Rarity to Trent and Trent to Applejack.
Big Mac and Cheerilee was my favorite Big Mac ship before Sugar Belle. Though they were under the influence of love poison, they did have many cameos together. Both are more down to earth than the Mane 6 when they are in full panic mode. This would have helped gotten things back in order and teaching both the Mane 6 and CMC of what not to do.
Celestia and Discord was the go-to ship for the original ruler of Equestria. I did in the beginning like this couple thanks to kianamai and hikariviny. Fans speculated that they were formerly lovers until he turned evil. In Everfree Northwest 2015, John de Lancie said he would ship Discord with Celestia than Fluttershy. While perhaps not taking thing serially, Celestia would have been able to keep Discord inline. If they had a child, Discord would have asked Fluttershy to be the child godmother and she would have said yes.
With Make Your Mark and Tell Your Tale, there are no ship teases with any characters except for Alphabittle and Queen Haven which will be interesting of where this will lead. We have seen good moments Hitch has with Sunny, Zipp, and Pipp but no ship tease. So who ever he ends up with, we should enjoy the good things the other ships that had potential.

Misty’s New Beginning

Finally after one year, Misty made the brave decision to finally take the first step toward breaking away from Opaline and starting a new life. In Tell Your Tale episode 53 we saw Misty break the necklace which Opaline gave her to communicate with her, which left me in utter shock. I don’t know about you but I never could have possibly seen this coming. I also never expected to see something so important as that in a five minute Tell Your Tale. In earlier moments of the episode we saw Misty playing with sock puppets to help her decide good or evil. Also when Misty saw the shadow berries she was excited because they are Opaline’s favorite and Opaline would love her for a full five minutes. Misty loves her new friends because they have shown her the true magic of friendship but she also is loyal to Opaline because of all the empty promises she made to Misty. We have seen much of Misty and Opaline’s toxic relationship but what really stood out to me was Misty having to earn Opaline’s love. Misty is looking for love in someone who is a narcissist and only has love for herself. If I could tell Misty anything it would be that she is not receiving love from Opaline it is only Opaline getting excited over one of her many favorite things. I’m shocked with and proud of Misty and I can’t wait to learn more about her and her secret ninja skills.
Why Is Opaline the Villain?

Even though Opaline didn’t do all that much, she’s still technically a villain. But…why? She clearly has so many other interests and she chose evil. When you take a look at her cutie mark it seems to be two wings and a unicorn horn. Could it represent the crystals? Her wings and horn? If you take a look back at generation four who was similar? Starlight. While their cutie marks are not super similar their situations are. Starlight always had a talent for magic but before she met the Mane Six she used her powers for evil. Of course her falling out with Sunburst contributed, I also believe Starlight had misread her cutie mark. I also believe the same thing happened with Opaline. I’m not quite sure what her cutie mark means right now or how she got it, but with her level of potential I know that she is meant to be reformed.
Earth Ponies are too Overpowered

In generation five the ponies still have a lot to learn about magic. Pegasi can fly, unicorns have the ability to levitate beings/objects, and earth ponies can end world hunger. Yes they really could if they wanted too. With just the tap of a hoof, they could create and maintain an entire garden without breaking a sweat. Now, the issue is not how overpowered they are but who has it. If an evil earth pony ever were to rise up, they could cause all sorts of destruction with the power of the actual world on which they stand. In chapter two Hitch wasn’t right about restricting the use of magic but his concern for safety was more than right and was quickly shut down. Not to mention that Opaline could even use that power for evil, but…

Trixie Lulamoon went from being arrogant and annoying minor villain to a good and reliable friend. At the end of the series, she had become the new guidance counselor which she enjoys. But this would not have happen when Twilight defeated her in Magic Duel which this was Trixie at her worst. While the ending was good but this is where things could have happen instead.
Trixie used the Alicorn amulet to enslave everyone and placed Ponyville in a dome which means she should have been convicted. Unknown if Celestia knew about the incident or Twilight told her she wants to give Trixie a chance of redemption. If Celestia knew and with suggestions from Twilight, she would have sentence Trixie to community service and placed under house arrest to not leave Ponyville. What Trixie would go through would be similar to what Sunset did between the 1st and 2nd Equestria Girl movies since many don’t trust her.
There would be fewer changes from season 3 to the season 6 during Trixie’s journey of redemption that would add things the show left out that could have happen. One episode that would have changed the shows direction is Spike at Your Service. In my opinion, the episode showed how much Spike was lost without being told what to do and has no friends to hang out with. Instead of Applejack, Trixie could make it better than being a shipping fuel for AppleSpike fans like DisneyFanatic and help change both Spike and Trixie. Trixie would find him annoying at first but would come to appreciate that someone wants to be her friend and help her unlike how she used Starlight to get revenge on Twilight. She might defend Spike when the Mane 6 asks him to do things that they could do it themselves or asked someone else. This would have Trixie teach Twilight and her friends that they are bossing him in a way she used to boss others.
While the Mane 6 is and Spike would help but her mother Sunflower Spectacle would also have helped out. It’s sad that we never get to see her in the show which would see her personality and Trixie’s childhood. Surprisingly she never made an appearance after what Trixie had done. She would live with her daughter to help her while caching up on lost mother and daughter times. One thing that should have happen is Sunflower being in a relationship with Starlight’s father Firelight. I saw this idea from a fan art on derpibooru by not-yet-a-brony and could work out. Jim Miller said Jack has no idea he has a child which means he is unreliable. While Firelight can act overly loving but does care about those close to him like his daughter which makes him the ideal father for Trixie than Jack.
