(Looks like this post got lost! Have the historys)
Where were you when ponies appeared on Colbert back in 2011? We had that, the shutdown of pirate plushie maker OnlyFactory, and more today. August 1st across the years has been pretty wild!
Go get it all below.
2011
It was a very busy day in 2011!
First off, Colbert did a pony shoutout. You can find that in the link up there.
We also saw the launch of Bronies for Good. A charity project that donatred loads of money over the years.
And on the fan content side, the artist "Moe" was dropping masterpieces left and right with no source at all outside of our old image dumps. We also had cute pipecleaner ponies, and a chart relating ponies to candy in almost ridiculous detail.
National Pony Writing Month began today, a parody of the official National Novel Writing Month that takes place in November each year. Early on in the fandom, a huge amount of people gave this one a shot, dropping 50k words in a month.
2013
TV guide did a pony article, mystery plushies appeared, and this video based on Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World was really good!
2014
OnlyFactory was hit by a copyright claim today and had to stop making ponies. As a chinese company though, they definitely flooded everywhere anyway, so you can still buy all of the designs they made even to this day.
And wave 11 blindbags dropped breezies off.
Most pony picture books are remakes from the show. This was a completely unique story.
2017
Celestia was very legit, and the My Little Pony movie got a surprising PG rating today, rather than the expected G rating.
2018
Nothing really happened, so have some EWW!
