McDonalds toys ended around this time, and fast food workers around the USA breathed a collective sigh of relief and not having to deal with us demanding very specific horse toys "for our sister" or "for our friends daughter".

Ponies got a reference on The Cleveland Show, then proceeded to last 6 more years than it did!
2013
4DE Plushies were announced, and the fandom DESPERATELY wanted them after years of spaghetti manes and super awkward looking snouts.

2014
ColtSteelStallion was another one of those early comic artists that was dropping good stuff consistently. I'd recommend reading some of his old DA pages if you want a laugh.
