Hey everyone! Another year has come and gone so that means it is time for one of my favorite yearly events here at EqD: The Newbie Artist Training Grounds! Hard to believe a year has passed already and what a hard year it has been for everyone, but hopefully we can all take a little breather and brighten our days with some attempts at drawing some very colorful equines. I'm so looking forward to seeing what new artists are born from this as well as seeing the skill improvements of those of you from past NATGs!
For those of you who have never participated in our NATG events before it's basically an event where you can try your hooves out on creating art for the first time and improving over the course of 30 odd days.
Artists who are veterans are more than welcome to join as well! Remember, you can never stop improving!
As for what sort of artwork you can submit, you're welcome to submit digital art, ponies made on lined paper, paintings, elaborate origami ponies, chalk board ponies, animations, pixel art or even SFM ponies like we did last year.
We're pretty open on what can be accepted just as long as it matches the theme in some way shape or form.
Finally, all entries submitted for each theme day have to be a new creation of some sort. We won't be strictly policing this, but the way I see it is that if you're submitting old work you're not giving yourself a chance to improve so you're only hurting yourself.
Once NATG arrives I'll have a more detailed post on how to submit, where to view, and what to expect out of the schedule. So until then, you guys have a couple weeks or so to prepare and make time for it, so get hyped, get those pencils or drawing pads ready and I'll see you all then.

S03E06 "Sleepless in Ponyville" Music: Deavas - The Legend of the Headless Horse [Progressive Metal]
Everypony you gotta listen to this! A rock pony song just like I love them, paying tribute to a specific episode or pony theme! Deavas, who's already shown a lot of pony passion before, is now responding to the theme of "Campfire Tales" with sampling the episode Sleepless in Ponyville (which is still one of my top favorite episodes) and delivering such a blissful progressive Prog Metal instrumental filled with incredible riffs and lead guitar parts! It seems like this was first posted to "T:EM/P/O thread 62 on /mlp/", sounds like the /mlp/ anons are as passionate as ever! You guys over there always had my respect and love, so here's another shout-out! And I'm grateful to Deavas for uploading it on YouTube, for the world to hear! Keep it up Deavas!!

This actually doesn't have anything to do with My Little Pony, but I thought the animation was so good I think it's worth discussing anyhow. An oldschool disney animator over on Youtube just released a new completely off-the-wall video called "Guardians of Pondonia", starring the pegasus you see in the image above traveling to earth.
Story-wise, its all over the place. Don't expect a whole lot there other than loads of sillyness. Just bask in the pony's superb animation if that isn't your humor style. It really is super well done, especially if you are into oldschool 80's animation styles with tons of movement that you don't usually see in modern day Flash.
