Equestria Girls had a pretty long run if you compare it to pony itself. For a side series, they poured a significant amount of resources into it, with multiple movies, the Youtube series, and loads of shorts.
Unfortunately, it never really got the same kind of "final episode" that Friendship is Magic recieved. A lot of people that were into it want some kind of closure.
We still don't know if there will be an EG for G5 or not. Considering how successful it was, I wouldn't doubt it, at least later on. Until then, how would you put a proper ending on to Equestria Girls for G4? What kind of fade-to-black did the show deserve?
