One thing this fandom does a ridiculous amount of is Fanfiction. I love harping on how amazing our artist community is, but we've got some ridiculously talented writers out there that entertain us just as much.
A writer for The MIT Technology Review has released an article all about diving into three specific fancoms; My Little Pony, Doctor Who, and Harry Potter. The primary goal was to determine how much writing fanfiction has helped young authors hone their craft over the years.
She and her team sat down and read loads of fanfics while simultaneously interviewing and studying the actual authors behind them, covering everything from the edgy weird stuff to the high end best of the best.
