Almost as soon as Luna was introduced to the show she has been a beloved character on the show. Even though she didn't appear again till a year later, her absence just seemed to make her popularity grow, the fandom drawing on the blank slate that was Luna to make Luna into a fully fleshed character. Whether she was a gamer, a brooder, or what have you, we all seemed to have our favorite Luna headcanons back then which carry on even today.
Of course, once we started to see more Luna in the show we started to get a personality for her, diverging in some ways from the Luna we created for ourselves back when we didn't know her all too well.
