A well known comic writer was apparently scooped up to write the mid-season finale this time around. Gail Simone is best known for her works on DC's Birds of Prey along with a host of major comic brands. Apparently My Little Pony's Nicole Dubuc found out she was watching pony during a tour of Hasbro Studios, and after the confirmation that season 9 would be happening, invited her on to write for it.
