Nightly Roundup #1401
by Calpain
It's funny seeing this picture in my inbox because it reminds me of something that happened yesterday. I actually saw a water beetle wandering around outside yesterday, in February! I can't recall the last time I saw any insects roaming around outside during the winter months.
Anyhow, news time guys, get it all after the break!

Rock Music: SlightlyAmiss - Silence (feat. CaptainNateEvans) / Maressey - Death Of A Drunken Dancer
by ExplodingPonyToastSome pretty neat rock music in this post. First up SlightlyAmiss has released a pretty cool prog-style rock track about Nurse Redheart. There's not a whole lot of content pertaining to her recently, so it's cool to hear a song like this. It explores some pretty dark emotions throughout, with Amiss' vocals complementing a pretty strong instrumental. In the second piece, Maressey has a new release featuring terrific vocals from Francis Vace, with an instrumental provided by Zatslol and Freewave. It's another pretty sombre track, this time about Berry Punch, and I especially enjoy the variance in the vocal style.

For some reason I am not surprised at all that Pinkie Pie is throwing several parties to usher in this new era of My Little Pony Comics. And no, the solicitations coming out three months ago telling us this had absolutely nothing to do with this revelation.
To celebrate this occasion on Equestria Daily, the writer of the issue—James Asmus was more than happy to agree to sit down for an interview about the new arc, and what it means actually tying into the Season 7 of the TV show.
Below the break you'll find all the juicy details about the new direction of the comics, how James Asmus actually got involved with the comics, and what the writing process was like for the new mysterious villain.
Here's hoping you find these answers as enlightening as I did.

Howdy do everyone! Looks like there was a bit of a mix-up with the shipping of some of the Guardians of Harmony Annual comics! While the main cover and digital releases were delayed one week owing to weather, the subscription cover by Jay Fosgitt (pictured above) made it out to comic stores and out on their shelves this week!
EQD will still be doing our usual release posts next week for the official release, however if you're looking to get some extra pony comics this week, you might want to consider picking this one up.
Special thanks to Ramivic and everyone else who sent it in!

We didn't see a any news at all about the upcoming three specials for Equestria Girls at Toy Fair. Fortunately, Hasbro has decided to break some information about them over on Twitter.
It's looking like Summer will be their official release date, and straight to netflix just like Legend of Everfree. That's all we know though, so prep the entire break for EG until we have an exact date!
Thanks to Joshua for sending it.

Something I didn't expect to see, but am definitely happy to hear! Shifting away from his usual fare of show song covers, Elias Frost delivers a cover of the piece recently put out by Duo Cartoonist. It's decidedly heavier, with a pretty metal atmosphere and some growl-y tones to some of the vocals, but the traditionally sung chorus is where this shines the most for me, as it works brilliantly with Elias' voice. Check it out below!

Does My Little Pony need MORE EXPLOSIONS? If Micheal Bay was one it, I'm sure it would. This was sent out to his 151k followers earlier yesterday, showing off Mark Wahlberg hugging a Rainbow Dash plushie.
Considering he's currently directing "Transformers: The Last Knight", it's probably not too surprising that there would be some pony in the vicinity. Maybe this means we will get another reference though?
Thanks to Sunchaserpony and Squeaky Belle for sending it.

Some potentially bad news coming out of the Twitter page of John de Lancie for all the Discord fans out there. When asked if he was going to be in season 7 of pony, he replied with a "I don't think so".
There have been times in the past where he wasn't sure what season or episodes he was involved in, so there is a chance that he really just isn't sure at all and doesn't want to get any hopes up just in case, but he usually does reply with "future" Discord roles, and so far we haven't gotten any kind of hint of that.
You can get a screencap of the tweet below.

The Australian version of Build a Bear recently sent out a mailer to all of their describers announcing the release date for Starlight Glimmer. She will be available, complete with the costume above, on March 9th. They are also getting a few other already released characters that they didn't already have over there to go along with her.
This is technically our first official confirmation that she's releasing outside of the leaked images from a few months ago. We don't have a USA release date yet, but it will probably be around the same time. Hopefully info on that comes out soon so we can GLIMMY.
Thanks to Micheal for sending it.

Morning Discussion #775
by Calpain
Even if you've spent a ton of time in the human world sometimes you just crave something from Equestria. It probably tastes fine to her, but I wonder what that hay is going to do for her digestion?
Morning everyone, ready to chat?

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #51 Released Today! - Download Links, Variants, Discussion!
by The Illustrious Q
It's the dawn of a new era in the My Little Pony Comics! And more importantly the road to Season 7 starts here!
Just what sort of adventure will "From the Shadows" turn out to be? Will our villain be more than one note? Will new writer James Asmus knock this opening to this story out of the park!
We've been doing this for fifty-one issues now. So as usual the answers to all of those questions can be found after the break!
