Bronies For Good is back with an announcement for everyone heading to Galacon. They need donations for the charity auction and you are the best source for that! Go get the infos below.
Wanted: In-Kind Donations for GalaCon Charity Auction
GalaCon is still seeking more in-kind donations to put on another two hours of charity auction extravaganza this summer – all for our carefully chosen beneficiary Animal Equality! The convention will again dedicate its charity auction to the Seeds of Kindness fundraiser of Bronies for Good – it will be the fifth successive year the convention has supported us. A silent auction and a super speedy Saturday sale will allow potential buyers to bid on their coveted items throughout most of the convention, and the live auction on Sunday will determine who gets the most valuable ones.
If you have an idea for a valuable item you could contribute to the auction, then please make Fluttershy proud and donate it, because scores of animals will likely be spared from suffering thanks to your generosity!
Contributing an Item to the Charity Auction
To submit an item, please head over to GalaCon’s charity auction page and click “Charity Auction 2017 – Item Registration Form.”Please fill in the form for every item, even if you plan on bringing it to the convention rather than mailing it. Having more time to plan the auction helps us handle the items more efficiently and sell more of them. Plus you will know whether your donation meets the requirements before you carry it to the convention. If you have any questions, please email GalaCon at [email protected].
How the Auction Works
There are three auctions overall, the silent auction, a small charity auction on Saturday and – of course – the great charity auction on Sunday before the closing ceremony. The silent auction runs from Saturday until Sunday at around 1 p.m. A bunch of items are presented in the gallery, each of them marked with a number. You can place your bids on numbered bidding lists. After the end of the silent auction, some of the items – according to their value – are given into the two live auctions. All other items are sold to the highest bidder according to the bidding list. (There will be a special announcement on Sunday afternoon with more details and instructions.)
Note that you will now need a bidder card to participate. This streamlines the process, and allows us to identify the bidders more reliably and hand out sold items faster.
The concept of both live auctions is simple: items are presented on stage and you have the chance to place a bid by raising your hand. The item is sold at the highest bid. Make sure you do not miss the live auctions, even when you are not convinced by the items at the gallery. There are much more special and yet secret items that will neither be presented in the gallery nor in the catalog! For detailed information, please read our charity auction rules and information on the silent auction. They also inform you of registration and overall process of the silent auction.
