Newbie Artist Training Grounds VI: Day 18
by Calpain
If you've seen Interstellar that is one sea you DO NOT want to be lost in that is for sure!
Hello hello everyone! Hope you are having a good week and that drawing has found you well. I see our numbers have been slowly dropping which I speculate has a little bit to do with school starting as I myself have started university again this week. As a result I am going to implement a makeup day or two more than planned so that there is more wiggle room for those of you who still want to participate but are having trouble fitting it in with school eating into your schedule. We will have one where we would normally have day 20, another at day 25 and a final one at the end of the event itself.
In the meantime we've got all sorts of drifting ponies tonight, a total of 142 ponies which brings our overall total to 4065 ponies, finally breaking the 4k mark! Woo!
Since school is poking into our lives as well I thought it would be appropriate to draw a pony back at school/draw a pony learning. As usual you can find our submitter here!

During Grand Brony Gala I had the pleasure to vend with my girlfriend in the vendor's hall and to my surprise, across from our table, was a table for a fine artist from Disney named Clinton Hobart. It was his first pony convention and ended up there thanks to a friend and over the course of the weekend came to like our little world of ponies.
During that time my friend MyLittleTies commissioned the main six and Sunset Shimmer from him and he came up with the images you'll see after the break! So if you want to see what the Equestria Girls characters would look like in Disney's style from an official Disney artist check on after the break.
Also, make sure to visit Clinton on Twitter:

If you have been following the current trend of Youtube Drama these past few days, the team over at whatever department deals with these things is now promoting an "advertiser friendly" environment by limiting what kind of content people can have on their monetized videos. Considering a lot of people are making their living out of said videos, and the new requirements are draconian at the least, it has sparked some outrage.
Fortunately, you can get around this by simply re-making your videos in exactly the type of format they require. The team over at Nightfall Studios demonstrates with their revamped "A Colt Classic" below the break.
Enjoy! Welcome to the future!

When you can play in a realistic fantasy world that only the likes of Discord can produce it can mess with your perception of reality a little bit I'd think.
Evening everyone, chat time commence!

I don't even remember what I was doing in 2003. I think that was the start of high school for me. I'm getting so old.

We've gone over the individual parts, so how about a look at the overall story to the most recent three-part arc?
Check out the review and sound off in the comments after the break!

It's pretty rare to see a pony reviewer or analyst do things outside the norm. When it happens, WE SPOTLIGHT. DWK here has been rockin the review posts this past season, and is now venturing into analysis with the same sarcastic style, starting with a topic that suits his Totally Legit series perfectly: Is Discord an A**hole!
Plus he's a fan of Shimmer and Glimglam, and that's a club only reserved the the most enlightened of the fandom.
Hide your kids. There are a lot of swear words, clop references, and more in this series. Discord's about to get slammed. And please don't take it seriously. Or at least completely seriously, there is some good stuff in there.

Every series has it's dependable character that is always there backing up the rest of the cast, be it with logic, skills, or simply a protective nature. Friendship is Magic does it a little bit different. Since we technically have seven "main" characters, we tend to see a different form of this as the ponies provide this kind of support between the group using their various strengths and weaknesses.
But what would happen if you were suddenly teleported to Equestria, and had to brave a dangerous adventure with a single pony as your sidekick?! Which character in the show would be the most dependable and willed to see you succeed?
Below the break, we dive into four of the best choices! Obviously, your mileage may vary. Feel free to drop yours in the comments.
Now go get some dependable cartoon horses!

Whether they slightly upgrade the style from the show, or straight up turn them into horses, we have a vast array of artistic interpretations of ponies in the fandom. It seems the pony form is easily adaptable into just about anything.
What is your favorite fandom style you have seen over the years? Something that made you say "I'd like pony even more if it was done like that!". Feel free to grab multiples. I know I could never decide on one with how many amazing ideas the are out there.

If you have been following the charity side of pony lately, you probably ran into our article earlier in the month about a little girl battling brain cancer. Yesterday, her parents released a few updates. While the deadline for sending letters is still a few days away, she is already getting absolutely bombarded with well wishes from people all over the world.
On top of this, Hasbro sent over a giant pile of pony stuff.
Read through everything over here!
Thanks to Texas Uber Allies for the heads up.

Morning Discussion #604

I actually haven't watched much Doctor Who but I have liked what I've seen so far! I really need to get down to a marathon of the series at some point though that in itself is a daunting task.
Morning guys! Ready for a new day?
