Hello there everypony! It's been awhile hasn't it? I know you guys have been waiting with us so patiently and now your waiting has paid off as I am happy to cut the ribbon on the first day of the Newbie Artist Training Grounds. Drawing is a hard, but rewarding process, with many twists and turns along the way. Just like my mentor Phoe and the rest of us at EqD, I subscribe to the belief that if you put in the time and effort you can learn to draw and draw well regardless of who you are or where you are!
While drawing is a hard process we are here to help! Over the next 30 days we will be tackling themes ranging from the simple to the more advanced to challenge your budding skills. Sounds a little scary doesn't it, questioning whether or not you can actually do it. While some are born with natural born talent, the rest of us have to dive right in and practice, giving it our all! With enough determination and encouragement from not only seeing others trying to draw for the first time we know you can do it and we'll be cheering you on the whole way!
So feeling a bit pumped now? Excellent, but what is the ATG all about? If you missed our previous posts about the event, the ATG is a 30 day event where you draw a picture (or pictures) that follow a prompt that we give you each night. Starting from the time that the post goes up on EqD you have 24 hours to finish a picture and submit it to our compiler so we can share your work with everyone on the site when the next prompt is posted! Even if you are a little bit late, never fear, we keep the submitter open for a little while after the next prompt goes up in case you're having some difficulties.
As for what you can draw and draw with? Feel free to draw whatever you want as long as it can relate to the prompt and use whatever medium you want! Whether it be paper, digital, pen, pencil, chalk, paint as long as you can draw with it it qualifies. As for how you submit your artwork, check after the break in a little bit to find a tutorial on how to use our submitter.
Now to get down to brass tacks! Are you ready for our first prompt because here it is my friends! For your first assignment we have a classic to ease you into the process as tonight we tackle drawing a pony standing/drawing a pony chilling. As for our submitter you can find the page to submit here! You have until August 15 9PM, Mountain Standard Time (GMT -6).
Have your assignment and feel a little nervous still about drawing? Check out our tutorial page located here. We have plenty of resources for all of you aspiring to check out! Now check on after the break for our tutorial!
