We tend to have a fairly even split between recurring side characters and brand new ones every season, and both come with their pluses and minuses. I know I'm not the only one that hopes to see specific ponies return and have their mysterious histories fleshed out a bit more. On the other hoof, it's always fun to see a character like Ember or Marble Pie pop up and make waves as an entirely new concept.
If season 7 decided to do away with the balance and you were forced to choose between only old characters or only new characters, which would you pick? Do you gamble with a new set of supporting cast, or stick with the familiar and explore some of the current oneshot ponies a bit more?
