    Pacific PonyCon Is A Success!!!

San Diego, California, United States - 18 January 2016 - A culmination of nearly two years of hard work, Pacific PonyCon, San Diego’s first My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic themed convention was a great success. Held on Shelter Island, on San Diego Bay, over six hundred bronies, friends, and family gathered at Kona Kai Resort and Spa and shared the magic that is Friendship. Over the course of three days of the convention, convention attendees are estimated, by the organizers of the convention, to have made over one-hundred thousand dollars of economic impact on the local economy. Please click here to see a YouTube hosted slideshow of the convention: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SEDJHq2qw4 . You can also see photos uploaded by attendees on SoCal Bronies on meetup.com: http://www.meetup.com/SoCalBronies/photos/26662559/

On the final day of the convention San Diego Union-Tribune reporter Lauryn Schroeder came to Pacific PonyCon and interviewed multiple convention attendees including Andrea Libman, voice actress of Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie; Ted Visser, U.S. Navy veteran and Pacific PonyCon Convention Chair; Toni Xavier, a parent of a brony; and Bryan Chandler, SoCal Ponytones member and Pacific PonyCon volunteer. Later that day San Diego Union-Tribune published a positive article of the convention: http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/jan/10/my-little-pony-fans-invade-san-diego/

On that same day at Pacific PonyCon, dozens of bronies gathered at the convention and attended an auction whose proceeds benefited the American Red Cross of San Diego/Imperial Counties. Bidding on over two dozen items, bronies raised $1964.00 for this worthy charity, which will utilize it for disaster relief. On Friday, 15 January, Pacific PonyCon’s convention chair, went to the chapter’s headquarters and presented a check of the money raised to the chapter. Alongside the convention chair was the convention’s mascot, Mission Belle, and the convention’s programming manager, James Udan.
