The Saga of MLP on Netflix Continues - USA Today Reporting that Hasbro Wasn't Able to Renegotiate their Kids Shows License
by Sethisto
Quite a few of you out there are probably bigtime Netflix users. We have seen a few people mention hat MLP is pretty back background sound in their households because of it.
Over the past few months, we have seen lots of ping pong on the issue, with customer service reps reassuring everyone that MLP will simply be renewed on the 2nd of February, which their listing showed as it's last day on the streaming service. On the other side of the spectrum, USA Today just dropped an article reporting that all of Hasbro's kid shows are supposedly being removed.
Good news though! The MLP Facebook page dropped a followup:
From the text above, it sounds like Netflix is still a focus for their streaming services. Here's to hoping this means USA Today is just reporting on old news, and pony will in fact be renewed. We will drop more updates as things are revealed closer to the February drop date.
Thanks to Brandon, Jason, and everyone else for sending it.

Custom Compilation #129
by Calpain
It is absolutely amazing what a custom artist can come up with! In ways they are a bit restrained because they have to work off a base, but that doesn't mean they can't create amazing works of art out of ponies.
We've got a ton of them after the break mainly thanks to Gryphyn-Bloodheart for compiling a lovely list of customs. If you're a custom maker please feel free to contribute your work so we can have these compilations a little more often.

Awhile back we found out about the first Brony that would be on the upcoming season of King of the Nerds named Thomas Vollum. Now as the premiere of the new season gets closer and closer TBS has released a promo for Thomas on the heels of the promo for Raychelle released a day ago. Catch the video over here if you're curious!
Apparently they are also doing a Twitch preview stream on Friday that you can catch here and check out Thomas King on Twitter @tvollum and give him some support. Good luck to both Raychelle and Thomas in the contest!

Is buck a swear word when used in this context? I guess we wouldn't use our human world variation on it in regards to kicking trees. That would be pretty awkward wouldn't it? I !@#^ TREES!
Uhh, anyway. I'm supposed to celebrate the fandom up here, so lets get to that.
Long ago, on a Youtube channel far far away, someone decided to combine scenes from the show with music. Yes, if you click that link, you are reading the date correctly. October 30, 2010. AMV was the technical term, but Friendship is Magic quickly adopted the PMV monicker instead. Ever since then, we have seen just about every song out there with ponies plastered on top. 2011 was a literal swarm of the stuff.
Fast forward to 2014, and I dare say that this is the most "evolved" of the various fandom creations. What was once lauded as the greatest thing ever when someone slapped Pinkamena on Linkin Park, quickly became bland as technology and talent combined to take the concept of "PMV" thrust it into overdrive. Loads of custom animations, motion graphics, and perfectly synched up scenes really took the entire format to the next level. The best PMVS are time consuming beasts now, competing with the top tiers of the other media styles in difficulty.
Enough blabbering! Head on down below the break for our top 10 AWESOME PMVS of 2014! I should probably note that this list is probably the most even across the board too, so don't focus too much on the ranks.

Yesterday we tossed up a post about We Love Fine's new design contest, and buried within was a note that one of the rewards was entry into an upcoming "Art of Equestria" book releasing later this year. We now have some extra information to go along with it from Abrams Books. It's sounding like thsis project is a lot bigger than we originally thought. The image above is the preview they used for it, but other than that, we don't have any other visual information.
Get the full description, along with a bunch of other nuggets of information below the break!

Story: Daring Do's Ghost(writer)
by Calpain
[Adventure]
Quote: "An excellent story that manages to leave you wanting more as all the best ones do" - Pre-Reader The Carousel Pony
Author: Razalon The Lizardman
Description: A priceless artifact, once possessed by an ancient tribe's chief for purposes unknown, located in what's considered some of the world's harshest terrain, rumored to possess a dark magic with special properties. It goes without saying that Daring Do will cross death's playground to retrieve it, and it also goes without saying that A.K. Yearling will write about the adventure in a book, even while struggling to make sense of some new found feelings for the adventurer.

I can totally imagine a younger Twilight doing this. Heck, I'd imagine grown up Twilight doing this on one of her more quirky days.

January 23rd marks the start of the third season of King of the Nerds, and we already have one person showing off the pony in attendance. The second addition is the Celestia cosplayer up above, Raychelle. TBS Released an intro video for her over on Twitter if you plan on following the series. Head on over here if you are curious!
We seem to be using that Ponies in the Media tag a lot lately. Is the mainstream just now picking up the cartoon horses?
Thanks to Alex for sending it.

Early Morning Discussion #92
by Calpain
Dreams are weird and magical things. Some nights they can make perfect sense, but others they are the oddest things imaginable. Too bad we can't remember full dreams very well, can you imagine what sort of stories people would be able to tell just from their dreams?
Hope you all had a nice sleep, ready for some chatting?
