Got to love acronyms! And got to love Comic-Con International's annual convention in San Diego, California!
Yes, I am talking about the pop culture social gathering known as Line-Con! Is there really anything better than waiting in lines--shoulder to shoulder--for five days in a sold out to capacity convention center?
...yes. I suppose what's at the end of those lines are better. And the panels. And Artist Alley. And the extremely sought after but incredibly difficult to obtain due to limited quantities exclusive toys and variant comic covers. And the sneak peeks. And the (insert reason why SDCC is great here).
Let's face it folks. SDCC is the pop culture event of the year. Others come close to rivaling it, but in terms of exclusives, news, announcements, comic talent, movie/TV stars, etc nothing beats it.
Though it is a pain in the neck to sort through all the information available for the convention. Thankfully, for those of you attending the con—like our intrepid SDCC Team from EQD—I've gone through and sorted the data for your viewing pleasure.
Be warned, what is after the break is not for the faint of heart. Though if you were of the faint of heart, why on Earth would you be going to San Diego for Comic-Con?

The TV Animation Story Editors/Head Writers Panel
Time: 3:30 pm–4:30 pm
Room: 24ABC
Description: Do you have dreams of writing for kids TV animation? This panel of veteran story editors and head writers will reveal what you need to know to break into the business, and stay in it. Topics include creating appropriate writing samples, landing a first gig, meeting deadlines, and keeping your story editor happy. Moderator Neo Edmund (Red Riding Werewolf Huntress, Kaijudo Clash of the Duel Masters) is joined by panelists Andrew Robinson (senior writer at Blizzard Entertainment, Kaijudo Clash of the Duel Masters), Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Spooksville), Charlotte Fullerton (Ben 10 Omniverse, My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic), Eugene Son (Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel's Avengers Assemble), and Craig Miller (Transformers, Curious George).
Notes: This is your chance to ask the kinds of questions about what really goes into the writing side of the TV Shows we all know and love. Charlotte Fullerton wrote the episodes Look Before You Sleep, Suited for Success, A Bird in the Hoof, May the Best Pet Win!, Baby Cakes, and Power Ponies. She has not written for Ponies since 2013.
If attending the panel, best bet is to ask about the story behind the story. I.E. what were some of the aspects that went into the writing of that particular episode, and how does the topic of the panel relate to that bit of industry experience?
Friday

Description: The cast and creatives behind My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and My Little Pony: Equestria Girls share details of the making of the popular animated series and a sneak peek into the rest of Season 5 and the new My Little Pony Equestria Girls Friendship Games movie coming this fall.
Notes: Just one note if you're a Brony: Get in line ASAP. Do not go after any exclusives. Do not go for autographs. Do not do pass go. Do not collect $200. DO NOT GO TO JAIL! This is the Hasbro My Little Pony Panel. This is the panel dedicated to the show. Be there or be square.
Spotlight on Katie Cook
Time: 3:00 pm—4:00 pm
Room: 32AB
Description: Katie Cook (Gronk, My Little Pony) and guest moderator Andy Price (My Little Pony) talk about Katie's work as an illustrator, writer, nerd, crazy cat lady, and the plethora of other hats she wears*. Katie will be doing a rapid-fire Q&A with the audience while taking audience suggestions for drawings that she'll be doing live on stage. Be on hand for what promises to be a fun hour of discussion, drawing, cats, and Katie! (*Katie will not actually be wearing a hat.)
Notes: If you're looking for an hour of absolute hilarity there really is no better panel to be at than this. If you've ever seen Katie Cook and Andy Price in the same room at the same time, you know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't expect any MLP Comic related announcements at this panel.
IDW: The Best Panel in Recorded History
Time: 4:00 pm–5:00 pm

Panelists include Gabriel Rodriguez, Sarah Gaydos, Joe Harris, Mike Johnson, Derek Charm, James Tynion IV, Ulises Farinas, and a special guest with a special announcement.
Notes: This is IDW's Main panel for SDCC. If there's going to be any huge announcements for the company, launches of new comic series, expansions into new creative endeavors, you can be absolutely sure that it's going to be announced here. Possibility of MLP related new is high, but will it be something lingered on? Probably not. Panel is more geared towards an overview of the company and where they are going.
Still a good idea to get in line for this one early. Yes, the panel is in one of the big rooms but you can bet it will fill up ASAP.

Notes: Primarily a Question and Answer panel. The free comics for the kids is a nice touch if you are heading to SDCC on their Kids Day. Possibility is not high for an huge announcement about the MLP comic line, but at the last NYCC we got the Friends Forever comic series announced at the main IDW Panel instead of the IDW/Hasbro panel so who knows. Especially with the Chief Creative Officer of IDW as one of the panelists.

Notes: More of an intellectual panel. The panelists will be exploring why All Age comics are vital for today's comic market. Don't expect any announcements, official or otherwise, coming out of this panel with regards to the comic series. However this is an important panel. Might want to consider asking Thom what he thinks about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic being IDW's Overall Top Selling comic for almost 3 years straight.
