Nightly Discussion #164

Quite the wings on Fluttershy there! I sometimes prefer it when they have huge wings like that though, makes the ponies seem more realistic.
Time for some chatting my friends! Let's get to it!

I actually saw a really good Flutterbat cosplay at Nightmare Nights Dallas a few weeks ago, but never did get a picture. Mainly because I'm a chicken and don't like asking people for pictures. DOH!
Get some cosplay stuff below!

For those of you collecting the blind bag series ponies, it looks like the next wave has been spotted already with 11 just recently hitting stores. The rushed schedule may be due to the fact that a lot of these are repeats from the first set from way back 3 years ago, though with updates. Rainbow Power adorns some of the mane 6, and Fluttershy uses the newer model.
The submitter, James, pointed this link out at Entertainment Earth with a January 2015 release date, though we can't be too sure if that is the exact piece. The description does seem to point out this out though (found below the break)
Thanks to Hannah and James for sending it!

Believe it or not, The Goonies is actually a film I have never seen all the way through in one sitting. This, however, cracked me up so much that I plan on remedying that as soon as possible!Once again, I had the distinct honor of interviewing a member of the IDW My Little Comic book team. This time it’s a new artist to IDW’s stable: Artist Jay P. Fosgitt! The artist for the soon to be released 11th issue of My Little Pony: Friends Forever! Featuring Rainbow Dash and Spitfire! So, who was Jay’s favorite pony to draw? How did he end up working on the comic? And why does a runt of a troll and an undead duck keep popping up everywhere I look up this guy’s name? You can find out all of that, and more, after the break! -
Altough it's still at least 2 years and 2 months from arrival, the upcoming pony movie is slowly moving forward towards the big screen. Joe Ballarini, scriptwriter for the movie, has confirmed on twitter that the movie has entered the scriptwriting stage.
Time will tell what pony goodness is about to be written.
(Also, Fade in effect confirmed!) -
Fluffy Twilight Sparkle! How do you prefer your ponies? With some fluff or without?

IBM's Watson supercomputer made headlines in 2011 when it competed in Jeopardy! against highly-rated human opponents, including never-before-defeated Brad Rutter, winning soundly and proving quite handily the efficacy of IBM's architecture. Since its debut on the game show, IBM has put Watson to work in hospitals and advertisement agencies because of its ability to process mass amounts of information in parallel and make use of it in a way that humans can't match. The system itself has 2,880 POWER7 processor cores and 16 terabytes of RAM.
Attie writes to inform us that, of course, ponies can apply to supercomputers, too.
Well, IBM is still doing a bunch of things with it, one of which is all sorts of analytic machines. One of these machines (of which I learned of recently through my job that deals with IBM) takes dialog from people, usually social media posts, and creates a personality matrix of that person, usually used for targeted advertising.
I thought this was cool, so I wrote a little program to extract every line each character has said from the wiki transcripts, and put a few of the main characters through the machine. The attached images are the results, based on 100% of each character's official dialog.
You can see a live demo of the software here, and below the break I've included the other main characters' graphs. The circle icons are credited to Nimaru over on DeviantArt. Attie has also provided many more pony characters' lines into their own files, which you can grab here. See what you can find!

Looks like Lightning Dust is a bit confused about where she is (not like the doctor is helping too much). She really has been taken for a ride.
