Meet The BlogPonies: The Illustrious Q

 Next up is the excellent and adorable Illustrious Q. He's been working with EQD for a while now making sure we have a good chance of sharing all the great comic news and we realized he really ought to be brought fully on board rather than having to wait for us to post. So introduce yourself, what's your name, when did you join EQD, what do you do?

 Q: Well, you've already introduced me—in both the post title and in your post's introductory paragraph— but I would hardly be the interviewer that I am for the site if I didn't answer the questions when the tables are turned on me.

It's actually quite a different perspective being on the receiving end of one of these. 

Anyways, I am The Illustrious Q. Or Q if you prefer. Never The Illustrious though. That is a title that I fashioned for myself when I was registering for my first forum—which for some reason wouldn't accept a single letter of the alphabet as a valid name— and sounds quite weird hearing it by itself. Eh, perhaps when I'm granted that title by the queen or something then I'll be fine with hearing it.

I officially joined EQD on November 1st of this year, so just a little over a month and a half ago by the time this interview was conducted, but prior to that I had been compiling the covers for the comic discussion posts for about a year and submitting interviews to EQD since June.

What I do for EQD is twofold. The first, and what got me my position on EQD, is being EQD's dedicated interview guru. Primarily this has been with the IDW comic series writers and artists with the primary goal of giving the brony community a chance to get to know all the amazing people who work on the comics. I've actually come to find over the years that as amazing and fantastic as a comic book is, the people behind creating it are usually even more fantastic and amazing individuals. Sharing those experiences and impressions is something that I absolutely love doing.

The second, I'm EQD's MLP Comic Guru. I'm the guy who keeps track of all the covers that are coming out for the various comics, what's going on with the artists on the series (hence the creation of the SPOC Sneak Peeks), and generally try to keep on top of any and all news related to the comics. 

What's the best thing about working for EQD and what do you do in your spare time?

Q: The best part about working for EQD so far has been being able to spend some serious one on one time with some of the most talented comic creators in the industry today. I'm not even joking. The guys and gals who work on these comics are some of the absolute best in the industry, and they're always so cheerful and friendly. I feel really and truly blessed to have gotten to know these people even just a little bit through my interviews.

I have a feeling though that that might change as I get to know the people who run EQD better over coming months and years.

What I do in my spare time is play video games and collect comics. Yes, I know, I am a nerd, but I am also a nerd who has collected just about every single cover that exists for the MLP series (and just about every single item IDW has produced under the license). I'm only missing two comics, and if anyone where to kindly send me the second printing of MLP:FiM #1 RI or 1 Million CVR B I would be eternally grateful… and possibly be the only person on the planet to own the entire set.

What's your favorite episode and who's your fave pony?

Q: My favorite episode is Luna Eclipsed. I know, everyone was probably expecting something involving Discord, and lord knows that if The Return of Harmony weren't followed by the perfection that was Lesson Zero and Luna Eclipsed, then that would be my favorite episode. Simply put, the story for that episode is simply perfect. The characterizations are my standards by which I judge the cast's every action by. And the humor is just zany enough to keep your sides laughing the entire time.

My favorite pony is Rainbow Dash. Simply put, she is awesome. 

However, my favorite character is Discord. Why Discord? Well, he's Equestria's version of Q, who is my all time favorite character. I grew up watching Star Trek, and Q was always a highlight whenever he showed up on the series. Whenever Discord shows up, it's like I'm seeing Q return to annoy a whole new group of people once again.

Do you think EQD helps the fandom?

Q: Yes. As for the reasons why, well I'd just be repeating what everyone else has said at this point.

Is Seth really as crazy to work with as everyone thinks?

Q: Still being fairly new here to the site, I haven't had much time to really get to know Seth like most of the other staff members here. Prior to Seth bringing me into the fold, our communications were fairly straightforward. I'd send him an interview, and he'd post the interview usually that day or the day after and credit me as a guest writer. Or I'd compile the covers, the links, and who did what for the comic discussion posts and Seth would credit me for doing all that work. After bringing me in, we primarily chat about the comics whenever a new issue comes out.

I also haven't had a chance to meet Seth in person. The closest I ever got was when I was in Tuscon (at A2Z Games) for the pre-release event of Canterlot Nights. And by closest, I mean being in the same state. For those of you who don't know, Arizona is large. Very large. It's also very red, very hot, and is primarily a desert. But the state is undeniably beautiful. If anything, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the country I have ever been to. I can't fault him for living in that part of the country.

Though the man clearly has Trixie on the brain. Obsession is one thing, but having it reach the point where anything and everything he either says or does in colored by that insufferable braggart of a showmare. If it ever gets to the point where he ends up changing his online name to be a direct reference to that character, I couldn't even image Discord helping the fandom at that point. 

Seriously, naming yourself after your favorite fictional character. How much crazier could you possibly get?
