Meet The Blogponies: Gameleon

Hope you guy enjoyed that interview cuz here's the next one! He might not be as famous but he's the entire reason you can browse EQD on your phone and the reason we can find out what's happening in Europe. It's Gameleon! Get the interview below the break.

So introduce yourself, what's your name, when did you join EQD, what do you do?

G: I'm Gameleon, the app developer for Equestria Daily. My first interactions with the EQD team were around September 2012 when I emailed Sethisto to get permission to create a little unofficial EQD app. Sethisto liked the idea of having an official EQD app and asked me if I would like to create that instead. This eventually lead to me joining the team proper in March 2013, when the official EQD app was finally released.

Around December 2013 I was also promoted from just the app developer to official blogpony

Currently my primary job is maintaining the Equestria Daily mobile app for iOS and Android. Since I am in a different timezone I also pick up breaking news that pops up while the rest of the team is asleep (Contrary to popular belief, Seth does go to bed). Last but not least, I'm also the person of contact for European cons and events.

What's the best thing about working for EQD and what do you do in your off time?

G: It's fun. The entire staff is basically one big group of friends. We don't see each other often because of the distances between where each of us lives, but every convention we go to we leave with lots of good memories.

And of course the audience. While there's good and bad times in the brony fandom, being able to see the enjoyment and positive investment some people found in this fandom makes it all worth it.

Aside from EQD I work a full time job as an iOS/Android app developer at a small (20 man) company. Beside that I like me some gaming, reading and recently I've caught the "travel bug". After going to Japan in 2013 I got a huge interest in traveling and have visited many places since (including 3 trips to the USA).

Do you think EQD helps the fandom?

In a way I think it does. It helps the creative people in the fandom to get an audience for their work and it gives a nice central hub for most of the major news in the fandom.

However, it also comes with a caveat: While we try to cover as much as we can and are willing to it's not possible to cover every single thing going on in the fandom. We might miss some stuff. Some people use EQD as their only fandom-related source of info (with the idea that we cover everything) and because of this miss out on the more obscure but good stuff in the fandom.

Best episode and best pony?

My favorite pony is Twilight Sparkle. With Sunset Shimmer having climbed to a good second place after Rainbow Rocks.

My favorite episode is a tie between Twilight's Kingdom and Pinkie Pride

Is Seth really as crazy to work with as everyone thinks?

He is not as crazy as everyone thinks, but we do have a lot of moments where the rest of the crew and I have to roll our eyes. Overall Seth is a pretty fun guy to hang out with, he just blurts out some weird random ideas and phrases at random times. An example is when I was touring to the USA and met up with Seth at Comic-Con. We were driving over the Interstate 8 from San Diego to Phoenix, which is quite a boring road, when Seth suddenly blurts out "Twilight Sparkle!" out of nowhere, scaring the bajeezus out of me. When I asked why he would do such a thing, he responded with "Because Twilight Sparkle sounds so fun to say"
