• Artist Spotlight: SherwoodWhisper / SingYourSong13 / Rainbow Hooves / Pirill-Poveniy

Heya gang! I hope you're all up for a little artwork today because we're back once again with the Artist Spotlight to help illuminate from really awesome artists. Make sure to check them all out after the break.

As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-5 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to [email protected]. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.

What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:

    • No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
    • Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
    • Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.

    Now on to the artists!

First up on our list tonight is an artist I'm surprised I haven't ran into before until very recently! It really shows that no matter how long you're in this fandom there are always things to surprise you around every corner. Sherwood's artwork is defined by a style that is very much like the show's own art style, but cranked up a notch as the characters are incredibly expressive. Not only are their characters impressive, but backgrounds pop in glorious detail and color that is amazing to say the least. See for yourself below!

Next up on our tour of pony art is a wonderful example of the amazing things you can do in traditional artwork. While you can do seamlessly anything with digital artwork you can do just as well amazing things with a trained and steady hand in traditional. SingYourSong shows this concept off masterfully with pictures that swirl and bend with color and life, explaining the personality of the ponies displayed without saying a single word. While primarily an artist of OCs, you will not be disappointed taking a look at this gallery!

    Rainbow Hooves

We all love happy ponies and our next artist's distinctive style is sure to make you smile. Rainbow's name describes their style well with bright colors being a huge part of their palette. They manage to stay very close to the style of the show though their legs are a bit more angular in comparison to the show. They've also begun doing comics as well that you may have seen on EqD before! With a cute style combined with a tad bit of humor I'm sure we'll see Rainbow go far.

    Pirill-Poveniy

One of the things that makes good art even better is the ability to convey a range of emotions and expressions on not only your characters, but in their surroundings as well. Pirill shows this range masterfully with pieces that show everything from tension and nervousness to beautiful serenity. Combining his masterful work with lighting with the expressions of his ponies and he can literally create any scene you can imagine!
