Japan PonyCon 2014 Spring
Japan PonyCon 3 has finished! We'd like to thank all of our attendees, staff and guests for helping to make it such an excellent event.
Japan PonyCon 3 was held on May 4th, 2014 in Ohji, Tokyo. We're still not a big con, but with 242 attendees this time around, we're growing every time.
The festivities started with a skype video call from Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy herself, the talented Andrea Libman.
Attendees listened to her speak of her involvement in My Little Pony, and were able to ask questions.
Many had practiced and memorized an English question just for this!
At the end of her appearance, Andrea chose two challenge themes for the artists in attendance- Fluttershy in cherry blossoms, and Pinkie with an instrument.
Dozens of pictures were created, and will be sent to Andrea, and the winners will get posters signed by Andrea.
The day went smoothly with interesting cosplayers abound, artist areas churning out fantastic creations, goods trading tables on the side areas of the con.
In the main area, the day saw panels on pony fursuit creation, history of MLP, interactive audience games, JPC staff's trip to BabsCon,
and a skype call with the talented Eile Monty before the Prance Floor dance party started with DJ L_Dragon spinning tunes till the end of the night.
Though it is very rare for any convention in Japan to raise money for charity, our silent auctions raised ￥49,000 for the Tohoku Disaster Relief Fund.
What a fantastic con! Thanks so much to everyone who came by or helped spread the word.
The next Japan PonyCon will be November 1st, 2014 in Kawasaki, Kanagawa. We hope to see many new faces as well as plenty of returning ones!
