A Brony Tale debuted at Tribeca and first reviews have been really positive so far! A rundown by Christopher Campbell on Movies.com provides some nice details and has been summarized nicely by our friend Ian. Check after the break for his summary and the trailer for the film if you've missed it.
Christopher Campbell, critic for Movies.com, praised "A Brony Tale", which had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last night, as the best fandom-based documentary since the critically acclaimed "Comic Con Episode IV: A Fan's Hope".
Detailing highlights from the film, Campbell said the bronies are "compared to the jazz crowd of the 1920s and to the Beatniks and, most assuredly, to the hippies."
Campbell praised Brent Hodge's direction, saying that "(Hodge) hardly exoticisizes the brony culture (nor does he exactly glorify them), and he doesn't simply settle on showing them and what they do and calling
it a day, which is sort of what 'Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony' does. Hodge comes closer to making those of us who can't possibly get it at least start to comprehend what is
really going on here and why."
"A Brony Tale" was received positively by critics and fans alike afterits world premiere, and is set to hit theaters in North America this summer.
