Bleh, there went my plan to make these weekly. I really need to be more proactive I guess! At any rate, we've got some gems for you guys today so make sure not to miss this edition of the Artist Spotlight.
As usual, these posts are in similar style to the Tumblr Spotlights, a group of 3-4 artists will be spotlit each entry along with a small short description along with a small selection of their artwork! In order to make this feature work though we need people to suggest artists to us so make sure to send artists you think need some exposure to calpain@equestriadaily.com. Please also include a short biography I can work with as well as what medium you work in most.
What sort of artists count? Suggestions should follow these criteria:
- No clop or extensive gore galleries as those typically violate our content guidelines. If the artist has a safe for work gallery separate from their not safe for work stuff they or their fans can submit the safe for work gallery. If there is a mix of SFW/NSFW on a gallery the decision whether or not to include them will be judged on a gallery to gallery basis.
- Don't be afraid to spotlight yourself as well as others!
- Artists of all types accepted -vector, OC, traditional, digital. As long as it is pony and of quality it has a chance of being spotlit.
Rain-Gear
Our first artist today is one that caught me completely by surprise! First appearing to me through our Livestream Saturday posts, Rain-Gear really surprised myself and a few others when he appeared on the scene with beautiful artwork! A digital artist by trade he is one of the rare artists that is able to create not only beautiful looking ponies, but gorgeous backgrounds to set them in. Rich in detail and color, his works are almost able to suck you right into the image, giving them unparalleled life and emotion which is very similar to the work of Assasin Monkey. Certainly a treat to behold, check out his work and page below!

CasyNuf
Next up on our journey through the depths of pony art is the wonderful work of CasyNuf. One thing I am consistently amazed by digital artists is their ability to make digital work look traditional. In the case of Casy, she manages to make her work look like it was painted with rich watercolors or oil paints imbuing her pieces with a lovely feeling akin to traditional artwork. This doesn't even mention her actual traditional artwork which is just as carefully crafted and detailed as her digital art. Just take a look at her Luna to see what I mean!

Obvious-Decoy
Now we make the full transition from digital to traditional. Completing a traditional piece requires a steady hand and patience as mistakes are much harder to remove once made, but the payoff is great! Considering the care it takes to make a traditional piece, it's especially amazing when an artist is able to create tons of them in a short period, something that Obvious-Decoy excels at. With incredibly clean and crisp lines Decoy's work is sure to impress!

RedJack-Nine
Last up is yet another traditional artist that uses similar equipment to Obvious-Decoy, but produces a very different looking, yet just as intriguing, product. Using much rougher penciling, Red creates artwork that combines this gruff yet detailed look perfectly with his unique style of drawing ponies along with the emotions his ponies clearly portray.
