• Writer's Training Grounds #003: "Pinkie Apple Pie"

Still listening to this song. This is one ride I don't want to get off of.

Now that you're done reading my episode followup (I assume you did, class), it's time for another writing assignment! Pinkie's been getting some mixed reviews this season, so let's try and delve a little bit more into what makes her work as a character. Pinkiefriends, now's your time.

Hit the break for this week's prompt, and happy writing!

While helping Twilight Sparkle with her genealogical research, Pinkie discovers another surprising familial connection. Pinkie heads out to investigate.

Research isn't just for egghead alicorns. It's important for writers, too, regardless of whether or not you own your subject material. Pinkie Pie is figuring into your story this week in some form or another, so think about the episodes, comics, fanwork, etc. that resonate with you, and deploy that in your writing. If all Pinkie is to you is random comic relief, go ahead and make your case. In all instances, however, write with conviction.

Note that I left room in the prompt this week for stories in which Pinkie isn't involved in the familial relation, but instead finds one between two other ponies/dragons/buffalo/you get the picture just be mature about it okay. And maybe there's a reason these relations have stayed buried for as long as they have? Good hunting, everyone.

    Da Rulez.
