Cave Story is a legendary indie Metroid-style action platformer exploration game released in 2004 by Studio Pixel. It's an amazing game, and possibly the greatest game featuring happy demonic toasters ever to be released. What it did not have is ponies.
Thanks to Dirkos, that problem has been fixed. A few months back, he released Cave Derpy, a respriting of the game to feature the lovable mailmare instead of a certain soldier from the surface, creating new flavors for both Lyra and Berry Punch shortly thereafter. These works have sat in obscurity... until today.
The story and game play very much remain Cave Story, but with sprite and text modifications in place to make the game feel like it centers around your pony of choice. It's quality work, and as you can clearly see above you little pixelated Lyra is adorable as all get out. If you've never played Cave Story, this is an excellent opportunity to try it out! If you already know how wonderful Cave Story is, then why not fall in love all over again with a little puff of fresh, ponified air? I think you'll be delighted poking around and seeing all the little differences. To play it yourself, check out any of these fine links, but be sure to uncheck the custom downloader box before downloading the game!

"How could you forget that?"
"I fixed it!"
EQD Music has been successfully launched thanks to you guys populating it with music. We hope to improve on its functionality in the coming months, and we're already implementing fixes for common issues. For now, we have a comic from our friend Acesential to celebrate the occasion, and a word from the man who coded the site to begin with, Hypermark:
Hi! I'm hoping everyone is enjoying the site, regardless of the bugs (I point you to the big “open beta” words), and I'm hoping that it will serve the fans well. I’m working frantically to get all the bugs fixed and kinks worked out. I would like to give a quick thank you to Seth and Cereal for the opportunity and the musicians and pre-readers who helped test this early on. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at [email protected].

Head on over here if you want them.
And thanks to 621Chopsuey for the heads up! -

Way back in October of last year, we started up a Music of the Day series to help out the swarms of musicians who weren't being posted here on Equestria Daily. The goal was to give them at least a small bit of traffic, and hopefully help motivate them to keep on improving over time. It has largely been successful in it's goals, and we saw a large amount of new music entries because of it.
But instead of that, we thought of a neat idea in August about a site that lets you, the community, decide on what music is awesome via an alternative to Music of the Day, with the secondary goal of displaying all the new pony music as it came in. After a call over to our coder buddy Hypermark who wanted a new project to bash his head against, EQD Music was born!
Head on down below the break for a full FAQ, or just go experiment with it yourself!
Note for those that don't read the FAQ: We are expecting a bit of a flood at the start in music submissions, expect stabilization either tomorrow or later this week! :p
Update: Until we are done being flooded, Music of the Day will remain, expect it for about another few days to a week!

I promised a cute Applejack picture and I am here to deliver as promised. Hope you guys had a great Friday evening! I spent mine doing my taxes and playing Starcraft so it was fairly productive I suppose.
