Steal my best pony, I steal yours.
Everyone's talking about how many fics yesterday's episode inspired/canonized/ruined forever, but how many of you are actually doing something about it? Even better, how many of you authors want to bypass that pesky pre-reading process and get your fiction posted directly on the blog?
... I'm being serious, writefriends. Grab your pens, keyboards, and the teeth of your enemies! We're kicking off the Writer's Training Grounds!*
For those of you who are familiar with the Newbie Artist's Training Grounds events we run every year, the Writer's Training Grounds will function in much the same way. Don't let the title mislead you, however -- writers of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. This is a low-commitment event tailored toward fun and exploration above all, so if you get an idea, run after it!
Every Sunday after an episode airs, we're going to give out a one-shot prompt based on that episode. What you do with that prompt is up to you! Pick whatever genres you like, provided you stay within these parameters:
- Keep the content appropriate as defined by our submission guidelines.
- Keep it between 1,000 - 1,500 words. >Greentexts and doorstoppers should apply elsewhere!
- Keep it to two genres maximum. For the roundup, fics will be grouped by their primary genre.
When you finish working on your fic, use this form to submit it to the Training Grounds. However, we will require much of the same information as if you were submitting a regular fic as follows, and this document explains what these requirements are.
- Story title
- Author name
- Story description (~1 paragraph maximum)
- Genre tags (2 tags maximum)
- Character tags (3 tags maximum)
- Story URL (must be hosted on FimFiction, GDocs, dA, etc.)
- Story password (for FimFiction users, just in case you submit late)
- Email address
Submissions will open when the WTG post goes live, and close on Tuesday, 11:59 PM Pacific Time that week. For "Bats!", this lands on December 31. From there, we will compile the submissions we received and post them that same Wednesday (January 1).
Now that you're with me... here's this week's prompt:
Not everything went as planned when Twilight undid her spell on Fluttershy.
Don't give me that look. This season has gone for so many "or is it?" endings that I expect it to end a bit like this.
Go write words (between 1,000 - 1,500), and use this form to submit them (up through Tuesday)! Good luck to you all!
*If you are actually in the possession of the teeth of your enemies, I must remind you that I am your friend. Please put away your pliers and action kicks; I don't want either of those near my mouth, ever.
