As if it wasn't already known, handshakes are a great way to spread all sorts of nasty viruses. It's like mass downloading files way back during the Kazaa era, over time, something is gonna hit you. CBC has done a quick article on the "fist bump", which the pony world has sort of adopted as the "brohoof", or "hoofbump", going into detail on a study that explained the benefits of skipping the handshake.
tl;dr if you see me at a convention, lets bust out the hooves instead!
