Musiquestria Portland: A Retrospective...Tria

Hey, everybody! Long time, no see! That's right, I'm still around, crawling through the air ducts of the EqD building and being briefly glimpsed out of the corner of one's eye in a mirror. As some of you may already know, I had to miss Everfree Northwest because of work obligations... so when I heard that Musiquestria, the tour across the US by a crew of brony musicians was coming to my home town of Portland, I simply had to go! Check out the deets under the break.

The event was held at the Red Coach Restaurant, a delicious, accommodating if somewhat small restaurant in downtown Portland. In attendence were musicians such as Bejoty, Replacer, Poni1kenobi, Tarby, Sax Brony, Silva Hound, F3nning, Donn DeVore, Automatic Jack and more!

The show started promptly an hour after it was scheduled to start, as per the norm for a concert. First on stage was Bejoty, playing a low-key acoustic set.

Every musician got about fifteen minutes for their set and not a second was wasted. Bejoty said he didn't get to practice much, but if he was rusty, he sure didn't show it!

Next up was Poni1kenobi, who also played an acoustic set. The audience, as you can see, was sizeable considering the venue! Poni1kenobi's set was awesome. I'm kind of terrible and can't remember the names of the songs played, but just take my word for it, it was awesome.

Tarby played a set much more geared towards rock and I was super into it. I'm not supposed to play favorites, but I'm gonna here: It was probably my favorite set of the night. He was later arrested for brutal melting of audience member's faces.

Next up, Replacer took over, playing us some keyboard music! Replacer came all the way from New Zealand for this tour, his first time in the US. His set was awesome, and his accent was even more awesome.

After this point, they began preparations to switch over to the electronic music set. I was getting mighty hungry, so I headed downstairs for a bite to eat, got to talking, and ended up kinda staying down there for the electronic set! Let me tell you, it is an experience to watch the floor above you flex like a trampoline from all the people jumping. A somewhat scary experience, but an experience none the less!

At one point, the music stopped, and Also sprach Zarathustra began playing. Highly confused, I ascended the stairs and witnessed...

I promptly stole her.

An hour later, the concert was over, and I was on my way home, $10 poorer but highly entertained. Musiquestria was a blast, and if it's coming to your town or a town near you, I highly recommend you check it out! You won't regret it!
