Whether we like it or not, our favorite ponies are no longer ponies in Friendship is Magic's first official movie. It's an odd idea that only the highest levels of Hasbro's marketing department could possibly come up with, but at the same time, we have the incredible team at DHX behind hopefully converting the bad into something good. Need I remind you that these are the same folks that made a show about cartoon horses take over the geek side of the internet? I have some faith.
Lets fast-forward to June when it starts invading theaters and eventually home DVD sets. How many of you are going to give it an open-minded shot? And how many of you are going to pretend it never existed in the first place?
As much as I dislike the idea of turning the ponies into barbie dolls, I am looking forward to the background references. From the images floating around the internet, it looks like literally every pony is included.
I guess the worst case would be a flood of ridiculously happy Lyra fanfiction. I've seen bigger explosions!
