It's that time once again to step into our time machines and take a trip down memory lane! Another Blast from the Past is upon us, ready to remind us of pony since past and introduce our newer members of the herd to some good times they may have missed! Let's hop to it.

Derpy and Her Lava Lamp
Sometimes it is the simplest animations that capture our hearts and put a smile on our faces. One such animation that comes to mind is the simple wonder of watching Derpy observe a lava lamp as if it is the most amazing thing in all the world. Appearing on dA back in Nov 2011 this little animation exploded in popularity as it spread throughout the pony community. Check out the Youtube version above!

Rainbow Dash vs Starscream
In an awesome turn of events, the good folks at ScrewAttack jumped on the pony bandwagon with a very entertaining versus video between Rainbow Dash and Starscream back in Sept 2011. Filled with humor and Rainbow Dash badassness, it was one of the last highlights of the first great pony summer as we made our way into season 2.
Starcraft II Pony Portraits
Ponies and Starcraft have been linked since the early days with the release of the Ponycraft II parody in early 2011. Since then many pony and Starcraft crossovers have been made, one of the best being the creation of a series of Starcraft portraits for the main six. The first being released in Dec 2011, these delightful little animations became a hit and really brought ponies and Starcraft together. Find links to each below!

Seth's First Meetup
While Seth is pretty frequently seen in the community scene there was a time when that wasn't the case! Back in July 2011 Seth attended his very first meetup, going incognito as he hung out with a bunch of fellow Arizona Bronies. Read his report from that meetup at the link above!
The Brony Wired Article
Now for a little bit of history. As some of you may be aware from reading the Roundups, news articles on the pony phenomenon are rather commonplace nowadays, with our inbox most nights getting at least one article from somewhere around the world. Before all of that though, news mention of the fandom was very sparse and limited to very small publications. That is, until Wired reported on ponies.
In what was possibly the first major publication to report on the fandom, the Wired article polarized the community despite the article being neutral to positive on the fandom at the time. The idea that media would start reporting on us was a bit terrifying and we wondered if there would be negative ramifications to our relatively small fandom at the time. Thankfully, as time went on, the media attention didn't halt the rapid growth of the fandom and today media reports tend towards the positive over the negative.
