>_< Nice, people. Real nice.
Who one starred it? that wasn't nice
ReplyDeleteIn my defense since I don't read ship I DO NOT one star them
ReplyDeleteHow can you avoid ships in general? even in normal fics there is usually some shipping included.
ReplyDeleteObviously, the person who one starred it didn't read the tags
ReplyDeleteI love coffeegrunt's work. I'm excited to read this.
ReplyDeleteI was doubtful. Then I saw it was by CoffeGrunt. Im totally reading this now!
ReplyDeleteSo this is written by the guy who did Allegrezza? I guess I'll give it a read, he seems to know how to write a good story.

ReplyDeleteHmm... that prose is kinda 'purple'. Also, some of the sentences were really awkwardly worded. Still, enjoyable enough, I guess. I'll still read the next chapter.
ReplyDelete"Bronies. No takey serious, okay?"
ReplyDeleteBut- but- what else are we supposed to doooooo?

ReplyDeleteI saw coffee grunt, I am so reading this
ReplyDeleteAlso. Hyacenth? Time goes on? I see a few british comedy references here
ReplyDeleteThe guy who wrote my favorite story for my favorite ship is now writing for my second favorite.. soo awsome
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Coffee Grunt is still writing! Sure this will be as great as Alegrezza
ReplyDeleteOoh, I hadn't noticed that this was CoffeeGrunt until after I read this chapter. Makes me wonder, does this take place in the same "timeline" as Allegrezza, or a separate one?
ReplyDeleteDang you! Now I must read!
ReplyDelete*glances at title disinterestedly* Name reminds me Harpflank and Sweets...
ReplyDelete*glances at author* HOLYBUCKCOFFEEGRUNT
Having only read the first two pages so far, I have to ask - is this the story of how Lyra's career got destroyed by her relationship with Bon-Bon, as repeatedly referred to in Allegrezza, or is this an unrelated story?
ReplyDeleteOf course, if you don't want to say I understand =3
It's pronounced 'bucket', isn't it?
ReplyDeleteCoffeeGrunt? LyraXBonbon? Count me in!
ReplyDeleteLyraXBon-bon?
ReplyDelete(Sarcastically)How original.
I liked Allegrezza. I just hope Coffeegrunt doesn't fall victim to the same curse that befell Penstroke.

ReplyDeleteALLEGREZZA II: THE ALLEGREZZENING
ReplyDeleteSorry about that. My phone derped.
ReplyDeleteAlright well I'm liking the story so far. I really like your sense of humor, and I know you develop a good relationship so I'm really excited to see where this goes.
ReplyDeleteMe thinks this is like a prequel to Allegrezza...
ReplyDeleteGreat story so far! I can't help but imagine Lyra with a British accent, like Fancy Pants has.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Hyacinth Bouquet is her mother?! Ahahahaha! Now I can't help but hear all her lines in that voice . . . ("The Bouqueeet residence, the lady of the house speaking!")
New Coffeegrunt? Squee! I wonder if it's canon with Allegreza. Also nice Keeping Up Appearances reference.
ReplyDeleteLoving the Douglas Adams/ Terry Pratchett-esque humor here, as is typical from CoffeeGrunt. Can't wait for more. Wonder if this means Lyra has an uncle Onslow.
ReplyDeleteLYRA Heartstrings and... who-what-drops ? ...huh?
ReplyDeleteWhere the heck does ''gumdrop'' even comes from anyway ?
Is this supposed to be an alternative dimension of some sort ?
Also... why the *NEED* to use alternative-naming, if it's Lyra&Bonbon you're talking about anyway (just comes out as a cheap way to get a ''reaction'') ?
Awesome this shall be the next story I read.
ReplyDelete@Nova25I like the title just fine. And Bon-Bon is supposedly a nickname, so maybe "Gumdrops" is her surname in this fic. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first LyraxBonBon story I actually read. There must be other origin storys of these two around, I'm sure.
If we go by canon timeline, this has to be somewhat parallel to the Nightmare Moon incident.
As usual, not a big fan of Lyra/Bon-Bon but the summary caught my eye. And seeing this is the same author as Algezzira means it's an obvious read all the more so.
ReplyDeleteLyra/Bon Bon isn't usually my cup of tea, but this was a very good read.
ReplyDeleteLyra x Bon Bon is now canon.
ReplyDeleteSomething of a prequel to 'Allegrezza,' I take it? I like the premise, and it maintains the quality, though, as has been pointed out, it smacks a bit purple at times. If I'm off base, feel free to disregard, but it feels an awful lot like what you are doing is trying very hard to write in a different voice than in your last masterpiece. This is good, and important, but the fact that it feels like this means (to me) that you are missing on some level. I have full faith that you'll hit the right notes, so to speak, but as it is it feels a bit lacking in that regard. Still, I heartily look forward to the upcoming chapters, it is never easy to write from under your own shadow, and 'Allegrezza' casts one doozy of a shadow.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck,
lesserpoet.
@Dr. Orbital Death-Ray hahahaha yes.
ReplyDeleteIts a pseudo-prequel in the same reality as Allegrezza...And its going to be amazing...already starting out very good...
ReplyDelete>The city ain't a place to get inspired, not even great Canterlot.
ReplyDelete-Not sure for them but, personally, I would find the breath-taking view from a millennia old ‘’citadel’’ build from the very front of a mountain, with its hundreds of meters high view of the surrounding nation... to be quite inspiring.
>Lyra upped her estimations to about two metric tonnes of hairspray a day
-Maybe it’s a spell ? Still, it’s probably expensive too.
>the various states of Kenbucky, Whinnysota and Coltorado
-Kenbucky, known for it’s production of eggs and feathers. Whinnysota, home of the dog’s breed of Winona ;). Coltorado... huh... has a big river ?
>She opened it to find a leaflet for free horn extensions.
-Heh... You can’t escape SPAM! ;)

>It’s not very ladylike, and I’ve said it time and again, you’ll not catch a stallion’s eye through furrowed brows
-I think I see the future ! ...or the average ‘’standard’’ intolerant parent thing, but that may or may not end up accepting Lyra’s choice and stuff. Or something.
>it wasn’t as if it was holding some form of secret mares in black meeting
-Heh. A quick ‘MIB’ reference. Also... not-so-secret ‘secret services’, apparently.
>poster of a pony holding an electric guitar seemingly composed entirely of magic.
-Mmh... a reference to the ‘air guitar’ or ?
>Lyra emptied the bowl of Cheerileeos down her throat
-This story is gonna be full of small references like that, isn’t it ? ;)
... Humm... It’s not said in those scenes, that Lyra took anything with her, before leaving to the train station ? I mean, doesn’t she have at least a bag, with minimal stuff and her harp ? Unless she already sent her stuff in advance, between when she entered and exited her house ? ...
>no local branches of BuckDonalds, nor was there even a Spurbucks . Mod-cons (...)
-Points for the ‘Buckdonald’, but I think I once hear a better one for the ‘’Starbuck’’ one... can’t remember what it was... Marebuck ? Starcolt ? Mmh...
I have no idea what ‘Mod-con’ is supposed to be ?
... Wait a minute ? A misplaced bar of soap + >skidding her way across the room and into the counter< ? There’s a picture of that, if I recall correctly, no ? ...
-----
Well, this seems to promise a light and amusing story to read... and this part was, in fact. There seem to be plenty of small references, but not ‘too much’, which is good too.
Yeah, seems like a pretty good story, so far.
I never see any Lyra and Bon Bon stories so I hope that's what this is. Gumdrops throws me off a bit. Please some one tell me Bon Bon is in this. I hate the idea of Lyra cheating on Sweet Sweet Bon Bon.
ReplyDelete@Daisymare
ReplyDeleteApparently it's her ''nickname'' or something... yet to be explained.
