I was also kind of hoping somewhere that Peter Cullin would do the voice if Iron Will, and it would be like Fluttershy is being mentored by Optimus Prime. Of course on second though that wouldn't work.

ReplyDeleteOn the one hand, I'm looking forward to the inevitable hamminess of this episode. Fluttershy is just adorably awkward. On the other hand, however, I'm not looking forward to Fluttershy being a jerk, and all of the shoe-horned references to it in new story updates.

Iron Will's voice is totally Chris Rager using his Mr. Satan/Hercule voice from the 1996 Dragon Ball Z! I don't even watch Dragon Ball Z and a little research on Behind the Voice Actors told me that!

I have no trouble recognizing the word "hoof" or understanding what it is even though no sentient being on my planet has hooves. I also understand fins, scales, flippers... any number of body parts I don't possess.
Anyway, this little scene greatly increased my interest in this episode!

ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I'm a little nervous about the message of this one. However if any show can pull it off it's MLP FIM. I hope they do it similarly to what they did in Boast Busters, and show the difference between being a jerk and being assertive while still encouraging and putting enough emphasis on the latter.

So what I'm thinking is, kinda the same thing, but spread throughout the whole town.
Only one thing bothers me.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I can tell based on my own observations, goats, unlike sheep, don't appear to be sentient. My basis for this theory is the appearance of a goat in the background of the "Find a Pet" song.
If that is the case, I am worried that Fluttershy will start being harsh to her animals, such as the lovable douchbag, Angel.
I'm calling it now, FS becomes too assertive and ends up hurting RD's feelings badly. Congradulations Rain, you're the new Fluttershy.

Then proceed to comment on getting over your head fluttershy was too predictable. (You know it could happen.)
Then while trying to enjoy the episode my mind will be invaded with rants on it Saturday, and all throughout the week.

Then again maybe not. Mane 6 arnt doing anything (As far as I know.) insulting most likely. So no matter what the final result is im sure it'll get more praise than MDW.

Also, not sure that the minotuar is Iron Will. Gilda, and Spike, the other mythical creatures we have names for, have normal names. Iron Will sounds much more like a pony name.

ReplyDeleteCan't be. With the exceptions of Tara Strong (who does Twilight's speaking voice and nobody else) and John de Lancie (who was a major guest character), the show strictly uses Vancouver-based voice talent. Chris Rager is based in Texas, so it's not him.
