The My Little Pony Fair is one of the older collector conventions that happens on a yearly basis. It is not a completely brony-focused event like our personal conventions, but there will be a pretty heavy g4 (Friendship is Magic) presence this time around from the sounds of it!
One of the more interesting things about these conventions is the attendance of actual Hasbro employees. They tend to do Q&A panels and general announcements. If you ever wanted a more direct line to the guys making the toys, this might be your best bet!
After the break, Summer Hayes, coordinator for the event, has given us a huge press release into what exactly is planned, and what you, as g4 fans, can expect to see. Check it out!
You can also find their website here!
"The MY LITTLE PONY Fair is the world's first large-scale MLP collector convention. Each year, hundreds of My Little pony collectors and fans come from all across the globe to meet others who share their interest in this pop culture icon. This year marks the 9th annual My Little Pony Fair and Convention. The MY LITTLE PONY Fair is the world's largest celebration of everything My Little Pony. The event brings collectors, friends, bronies, and fanatics of all ages and from all over the world together for two days of pony fun!
Participants of our previous events have loved the friendly, community atmosphere of My Little Pony Fair. We are not just another collector's convention. While we offer presentations, workshops, and information as traditional conventions do, The My Little Pony Fair also offers a wide variety of activities and events for you to participate! Families with children are welcome and encouraged to attend as The My Little Pony Fair strives to provide a family friendly enviornment.
Join other collectors and fans who share a common passion for My Little Pony over two fun filled days! Celebrate this iconic toy, show off your artistic skills in one of our many contests, test your pony symbol knowledge, buy new ponies for your collection, and so much more! This year's 2012 MY LITTLE PONY Fair offers something for everyone!
Previous years have had guest panels consisting of Hasbro design and marketing staff, Friendship is Magic staff, My Little Pony creator Bonnie Zacherle, sculptors (Kirk Hindman and Grace Garcia), painter (Stanley Sykes), illustrator (Lyn Fletcher), book signings by My Little Pony guide authors (Summer Hayes, Debra Birge and Hillary DePiano) and presentations by well known community members. In 2011, the MY LITTLE PONY Fair hosted the world premire of the documentary film, My Little Obsession directed by Julie Watts.
Tickets are now on sale for the 9th annual MY LITTLE PONY Fair. Join MY LITTLE PONY fans just like you for a weekend of pony fun in Orlando, Florida on July 7th and 8th. Tickets can be purchased through our Eventbrite ticketing page. For additional information on this terrific event for MY LITTLE PONY fans of all ages visit us online at www.mylittleponycon.com"

ReplyDelete1st Yeah Brony!
ReplyDeleteCool, some information?
ReplyDelete@DashieBro FUUUUU! time on my computer was wrong
ReplyDeleteinb4yuchangederpy complaints
ReplyDeleteA pony event that's in driving range! Wooo!
ReplyDeleteIntriguing!
ReplyDeleteFirst time hearing about this.
ReplyDeleteDoes sound interesting. Would be nice to get a chance to interact with some of the people behind the franchise itself. But unfortunately, I can't exactly teleport myself from New York to Orlando. Besides, BroNYCon will probably drain my bank account.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun, fedora-free time everyone!
ReplyDeleteAm I the onbly one who thinks that the over-sharing of pony is going to bite us in the end? Like, people already seem to be getting sick of us...am I crazy?
ReplyDeleteIt's worth noting that a significant number of the attendees are pony modders who have been doing it since long before a lot of us were fans. Some of them have mad skilz and they're happy to talk shop.
ReplyDeleteGay. Absolutely, completely, defiantly, gay.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't anything be in LA?
ReplyDeleteoh celestia we're going to murder those fucking hasbro employees
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't sound like it's for us... people who liked My Little Pony before Friendship is Magic? Er...
ReplyDelete@Blethisto Anything girly your sure to be apart of..... Are you calling MLP girly? JK :P
ReplyDelete@Blethisto
ReplyDeleteGet out of here with that.
@Trigonometrize Yeah, MLP before FIM was a COMPLETELY different thing...
ReplyDelete@Blethisto The rumors are true you do use words like these
ReplyDelete@Blethisto
ReplyDeleteYou're right. It looks so happy!
@Trigonometrize
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't all bad, ever see Rescue at Midnight Castle?
i KNOW bronycon will drain my bank account XD , but it'll be totally worth it
ReplyDelete@Blethisto WELL, its definetly gay as in happy :) but not in the other way
ReplyDeleteIt isn't a brony related thing but if you're a collector it is quite entertaining, I'm not a collector and I've been it was a very nice thing to attend
ReplyDeleteThe original Bronycon without the "brony". I don't know... maybe
ReplyDeleteSo these collectors are the old school Pony fans and us Bronies are like the arrogant young upstarts that muscled in our their territory.
ReplyDelete@Blethisto I see that you like using gay as an insult. Trying to hide something?
ReplyDelete@Matt Sullivan People have been sick of us since the fandom started and it isn't going to change anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteThese people were bronies before it was cool!
ReplyDeletePeople don't seem to understand that Blethisto is a novelty account. A novelty account is not to be taken seriously. Anyone who has been to reddit should know that.
ReplyDeleteTo further my point Just look at his profile http://www.blogger.com/profile/12628822051689465369
ReplyDelete@Blethisto Eyup, you're probably gay as it says "am I gay" in your profile
ReplyDeleteAwwww
ReplyDeleteI see Blethisto was that troll that failed so hard that everyone loved him.
@DashieBro
ReplyDeleteWe're all gay for Blethisto.
Blethisto is hot
ReplyDeleteIt's like... his comments are so mind blowing, my sexuality does a total 180
ReplyDeletewell, i wont be going but i dont think i would really belong either. :/
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan pretty much
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteTwill be an epic tale for the history books
Looking the schedule over, it doesn't seem like there's very much that really might pull the average brony's attention besides the 'Hasbro Presentation'. But then again, it might be cool to learn about the G1 & G2 pony generations.

Obviously this is more of a fair for toy collectors. Anyone going to one of these who isn't big into at least the G4 toys should probably skip this one.
ReplyDeleteNot that we wouldn't be welcome, but you should just be aware what it's about before you go.
Also I saw in last year's itinerary they were three sessions of bingo. I think my mental image of most of the collectors being... older females is correct.
What the fuck? I come back and see people questioning my sexuality? What the honest fuck?
ReplyDeleteorlando...can you get any further away from me...nope
ReplyDeleteThose who attend, please keep the clusterf*ck to an acceptable level.
ReplyDeleteIm big into collecting but Im poor so I need to save what money I have left after wasting most of it on hasbro toys.... (Transformers and Ponies)
ReplyDelete@crazyredemuVirgin.
ReplyDelete@torey do I know you IRL?
ReplyDeleteAh I remember the post for this last year, where they had to specifically ask the bronies to be nice and not to freak out regular attendees with out socially retarded internet antics.
ReplyDeleteOh the memories of when people were still trying to figure out wtf we were. Good times...good times.
>Orlando, Florida
ReplyDeleteWhy does everything cool have to be on opposite side of the country?
ლ(ಠ益ಠლ)
@Blethisto
ReplyDelete1/10
@Blethisto
ReplyDeleteIm waiting for marriage, so yes I am a virgin.
@Nostalgia Schmaltz
ReplyDeleteHoly shit I feel so offended, I got a motherfucking 1 out of 9 more 1's! Fuck!
Awesome, I live in Jacksonville. I could probably make it if there is actually going to be a large brony presence there.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is sick of us.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY! an excuse to finally to go to one of these things. Where do I sign up? :)
ReplyDeleteHipsters....
ReplyDeleteSetting aside the fact that all conventions occur on the other side of the darn globe, I find conventions to be a little too...excessive for my tastes. I prefer sitting here and watching my episodes.
ReplyDeletemany moths ago I would have thought those pony fans were freaks... well, previous generations collectors (non-bronies) are xD
ReplyDeleteOn the bright side, if you have a thing for lonely middle aged women or stay at home moms this is probably a great place to go.
ReplyDeleteGAAAAAH, MY EYES, G1-G3
ReplyDeleteLast year: Bronies looked at suspiciously and not really welcomed.
ReplyDeleteThis year: Bronies welcomed. Some go, act like dicks to the G2 and G3 fans.
Next year: Bronies looked at suspiciously and not really welcomed.
Just, please, whatever you guys do, don't harass the Hasbro people regarding Derpy. Because I know SOMEONE is thinking about doing it. Please don't.
ReplyDelete@Blethisto
ReplyDeletelol, successful troll is successful
@sygmus
ReplyDeletecertainly harassment wouldn't be a good idea. However this would be the perfect time for a well-thought-out, reasonable, and organized petition to either have original Derpy restored or make sure that no analogous mistakes are made by the folks at Hasbro in the future.
a convention? Looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteOwait... it's at least a thousand miles away...
@cherrybomb0388
ReplyDeleteBronies insulting collectors?
Good one.
@ijustwanttopost
ReplyDeleteBronies were welcome last year. There was even a long letter explaining how the event is for everyone (after someone asked if bronies were welcome).
@Naahdude
ReplyDeleteBut I like fedoras. :c
If I don't have my Reserve weekend that weekend I would love to go. I see this as one big artist ally. Custom ponies, pony art, and people showing off their extremely rare collectors items. The Hasbro panel would be cool if anything to see bronies try to contain their rage and ask "Y U Change Derpy?" in a more intelligent and calm way.
ReplyDeleteFinally you never know they may have special MLP Fair edition G4 Ponies.
@Matt Sullivan
ReplyDeleteI always got the sense that a lot of the "old school" MLP collectors were never very fond of us Bronies in the first place.
@ijustwanttopost
ReplyDeleteWell, this is primarily a toy collector convention which has been put on for years by and for those who collect old school MLP toys.
Many Bronies actively mock anything pre-FiM, and many frequently complain about even the G4 toys for low quality and lack of show-accuracy.
It's not really surprising that the organizers might raise an eye at Bronies given this.
@sygmus
ReplyDeleteI agree. This is probably not the appropriate venue for discussing Derpy. Given this is a toy collection show, the individuals from Hasbro present probably have absolutely nothing to do with the TV show whatsoever.
@Shiranai
ReplyDeleteJust want to say that there are a ton of older collectors who also collect G4. So it's not just "old school" stuff. : )
You can be sure that a lot of questions asked at the Hasbro staff will be G4 related. Though yeah, there is no point in asking about Derpy.
It's not as if we don't know now why those changes happened. And i don't think the organizers want that kind of drama at the con. ( A lot of collectors also don't care THAT much about it.)
@Mike Totally. I hope someone does that, just as long as no one goes and rages at them for censoring Derpy...that would just make the whole fandom look bad. Bringing some kind of well-worded petition would probably be a great idea, though I'm not sure how much good it would do at a toy fair, seeing as they probably don't have a whole lot to do with the actual show. However, they may be able to get it to the people who do, and it would at least help spread more awareness to Hasbro that we aren't exactly happy with censorship.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth a shot I would think, as long as whoever does it is smart about it, and polite. :P
Dangit. Why didn't I like ponies WHEN I STILL LIVED NEAR ORLANDO?
ReplyDeleteFinally, a pony event that's close by! ;u;
ReplyDeletePonies maybe or just toys? Broken language is broken...
ReplyDeleteBut why's it gotta be a thousand miles away? D:
ReplyDeleteAt least I'm close enough to BronNYcon. . .
Oh yay. All the immature people are bashing collectors for liking old ponies.
ReplyDelete@Ki
ReplyDelete> there is no point in asking about Derpy
Well, I agree that asking about Derpy's scene change would be pointless, but it seems like this would be the perfect place to ask if Hasbro will ever make an official Derpy toy!
