Just in case you guys were wondering how exactly the ring attatchments work this time around, it looks like those plastic dongles on their heads really are permanent fixtures. It's a bot obnoxious to be honest, but I'm sure they snap right off.
Thanks to Peter for the images again!

Awesome toys
ReplyDeleteLittle weird, but okay
ReplyDeleteIt would've been better if they held their rings with their hooves.
ReplyDeleteIt's nat a tumah!
ReplyDeleteSimple solution: Belt sander.
ReplyDeleteWHERE'S Rainbow Dash and Applejack?!? How dare they not put RAINBOW DASH!!!
ReplyDelete@Adambatt
ReplyDeleteBelt sander is way too crude. My solution would be a decent pair of model clippers and a set of good files. Then paint to cover the damaged part of the hair.
It's not like my main goal was to play with them. I'm getting them so I can look cool in as many ways as possible. (Also, it probably will be a fun way to troll my friend, which I wouldn't care about if HE wasn't such a troll...)
ReplyDeleteAwwww yeeeeeah!
ReplyDeleteWait....where the buck is AJ.....WHERE THE BUCK IS MY DASHIE!
They look more show accurate than the blind bag ponies, except for the nob and tail of course
ReplyDelete@Conan-Kay River
ReplyDeleteApplejack will arrive at my store on the 8th and Rainbow Dash on the 13th. That's why they are not included.
going to get them free
ReplyDeleteOh god I haven't eaten McDonald's in a long time, not sure if I would even see one of these in my lifetime.

ReplyDeleteThe McDonalds near me still had build-a-bear toys in stock* D:
ReplyDeleteI'll probably keep the rings on & I'll just hang them on my bags
ReplyDeleteTime to break out the toolbox. Let's see, hacksaw, check. Rotary steel cutter and grinder, check. Paint, check.
ReplyDeleteYep. Might actually buy some of these.
Friggin... why, what are the rings even for? Won't they just obstruct play? Yeesh. For years I've been reading Shortpacked! and thinking it was silly for Willis to complain so much about toy design, and now I am filled with rage over ponies.
ReplyDeleteCarefully filing them down is probably a better idea then snapping them off, considering the size of the toys and generally vulnerablity of pony-toys' necks. Then put epoxy putty over the "bald spot", model it after the regular flow of the hair and paint it the appropriate color. Apart from the time required to dry, this shouldn't take more then fifteen minutes per pony.
ReplyDeleteyou do relies what this mean. grown men are going to have to ask for a happy meal and for the girl toy as well. this is going to be fun
ReplyDeleteEh, I think I'm happy enough with my blindbags.
ReplyDeleteBut, idk if I can resist at least getting one.
Lol, fluttershy is the only one'putting her hoof down'

ReplyDeleteThose rings make me want them less but I'll still try at least once, just to see what it's like.
ReplyDeleteI've got a method: Get a lighter, and a paper clip. Straighten the paperclip, and heat one of its ends until really hot. And then you just slice through the plastic like hot knife through butter!
ReplyDeleteOr, sharp nail clippers could work too...
*sigh* Time to break out the Dremel tool. Solve that problem real quick.
ReplyDeleteFunny, that McD's is putting out more show-accurate modles than Hasbro.
i wish i had one
ReplyDeleteDanget my sister got a Happy Meal today man I hope she gets one soon again... Then I will steal it when no ones looking!! I have a good chance of getting a Dashie since I live in the ghetto. I don't think a gangster would be carrying ponies with him....
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit conflicted. I have the previous McDonalds ponies and I think they look better than these. Not to mention having to file/sand down the ring loop and paint over that spot just to get them more accurately presentable. I think the rings were a silly idea anyway.
ReplyDeleteSo I want them, but I don't want them, which is frustrating.
I think the rings on the heads would be useful for putting them on a key ring. or just using them as a key ring.
ReplyDelete"yeah hi can I get a happy meal? with the girl's toy please. It's uhhhhhh for my cousin, not me."
ReplyDeleteUK : Only country in the F-in world who won't have those -> ╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
ReplyDeleteX-Acto knife and or scaplel.Done. Anyone who would take a grinder to these deserve the shredded lump's of plastic ends they get.
ReplyDeleteAh, so that's what those rings were for, okay.
ReplyDeleteEh, I guess you could just snap them off or cut them off. Shouldn't be too hard hopefully.
I've got used to buying pony merch in retail stores, but for some reason asking for one of these is mind-boggling to me. I keep thinking they're not that great because of the ring and stuff, but in the end id really like them. Probably no one else will ask for them, either.... ughh.
ReplyDelete"it's a bot obnoxious"
ReplyDeleteSilly Seth :)
I'm thinking maybe they could be easily converted to keychains, with a little work.
ReplyDeleteUhh, sorry, but no, I don't think I'll be getting any of those. I may be a fan of the show, but not of the merchandise.
ReplyDelete-Skar
So are they out now??? I went to McDonald's yesterday after hearing that they were out already and there was no pony :(
ReplyDeleteI'll certainly be buying all of them, already have the old ones, and these are in different poses so I gotta get 'em all. Besides, even with the rings they look better than the brushables at retail stores, and not to mention are about the same price as a blind bag toy ($2.00).
ReplyDeleteLoopty hoops and no Apple Bloom? For shame.
ReplyDeleteI just want one. All I need is one.
ReplyDeleteHow'd you get these? Thought they came out on the 9th.
ReplyDeleteDoes McDonalds have an "I work on a famous My Little Pony news blog so it'd be in your best financial interest to give me some of your toys to advertise" early release discount!?
Looks like I got some impersonating to do.
"Welcome to McDonald's, may I take your order?"
ReplyDelete"Yeah, I want two happy meals, one with the blue winged pony with rainbow hair for my niece, and one with the pink pony for me, please."
*Deadpan*
The only MLP toys that look like the characters from the show!
ReplyDeleteRings on head? Meh, pas.... waitaminit.
ReplyDeleteXMASS DECORATIONS!
They look better than I thought, will try to acquire them all.
ReplyDeleteThis must be a symptom of Applebloom's Cutie Pox.
ReplyDeleteOooh, molded plastic hair! Want!
ReplyDeleteHm, nothing I can't fix with some snips. Absolute worst case scenario, a bit of "Green Stuff" and paint will perfect the touch-up job.
ReplyDeleteThe Rarity and Twilight, is it impossible to get their manes right or what?
ReplyDeleteI do want the Pinkie and Fluttershy though. ;w; Hm... time to convince someone to take me to McDonalds...
Looks like the cutie marks are simplified -- Rarity has one diamond rather than three, Pinkie has only one balloon and Flutters has only one butterfly.
ReplyDeleteI received a coupon booklet from McD's in the mail a couple days back. Once coupon was for a free happy meal with any other purchase of more than $1. (IOW, you can't order off the $1 menu and get your pony, but you can order whatever the next cheapest thing is.) Eligibility is residents of Colorado, Wyoming and western Nebraska. I did some garbage can diving at my post office (I have a PO box) and scored several of these coupons. So these ponies should be pretty cheap.
Hmm, quite nice. Yes, quite. *monocle enhanced puff on corncob pipe*
ReplyDeleteMy only question is: WUT DAFUQ IS A 'DONGLE'?!
I say drill a hole in the little plastic piece and work a key ring in there!
ReplyDeleteOH man. It's no wonder they only show Rarity, Pinkie and Fluttershy from one side most of the time. Holy Christmas. XD
ReplyDeleteI picked up two girls happy meals today... Got RIO crap!
ReplyDelete/)☉Éœ☉/) FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU
Why does anyone here think that the McDonald's cashier needs an explanation about why you're getting a girl's Happy Meal? Just buy it. They honestly couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteReally, it's like reading posts from middle schoolers about buying condoms...
@Nightweaver20xx Although Pinkie's hair covering her face somehow seems in-character. Maybe because it looks like frosting.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I quite like the rings!
ReplyDeleteThey're nice to attach to backpacks and the like! :)
Can't wait to get 'em when my McDonalds releases them.
I'm indifferent, The rings will be removed on mine, the grinding wheel owes me a few favors anyway. Lulz...
ReplyDeleteWait, wait, wait. When I go to happymeal.com (or any of my local McDonalds for that matter) it's still that Build-A-Bear crap. Where are you people getting these?!? CAN I DRIVE THERE?
ReplyDeletemy little tumor: cancer is magic
ReplyDeleteThe rings look kind of counter-intuitive to me. They are evidently the type that come off the toy with very little hassle. Therefore, why have them at all? The point of a ring is to fix things to so they DON'T fall off...
ReplyDeleteI'm personally having an internal debate whether to switch the ring for a proper keyring, or just remove it completely.
Keyring - I get to keep it close by at all times.
Non-keyring - I can actually maintain the tail properly.
Those rings kind of ruin it for me. Simply breaking them off would leave a nasty scar on their heads and leaving them on looks ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteimo if you want a keyring its bettter to do what i did to a blind bag dashie..1foot of stainless wire a torch and some items to bend the wire around..remove the glued hair points and slowly pop the head off..make collar to fit the neck out of wire with keychain loop nestled between the wings..trim hair to fit over collar glue and slip head back on....course i drilled the hooves and added rare earth magnets so she will stay put where ever i put her
ReplyDeletei cant see these "nubs" after being drilled out surviveing long
Does anyone know a McD's that selling these in New Jersey?
ReplyDeleteyo that is sick when it that coming out?
ReplyDeleteI like the keychain thingy... I'm gonna get myself some duplicates so I can attach them to my purse. :D
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen Fluttershy and TS though? I only got Pinkie Pie and Rarity, said those were the only ones they'd gotten in so far, and the rest of my McDonald's (I checked at least 6) don't even HAVE the MLP toys yet.
Out of stock at mines today-if they're even out yet...I didn't go inside to check. I was THOROUGHLY disappointed. :-(
ReplyDeleteI feel like I'm the only brony in Spring Hill, so I just don't know what went wrong.
This is awesome! I love MLP FiM and i love keychains:P (I collect keychains and have over 600 or so) So hopefully ill be able to get some of these:P Especially fluttershy she is my favorite.

ReplyDeleteRainbow Dash's colors suck :(
