Some good news for you all has come out of Adweek today about the Hub and its steady rise as a viable network. While there are only a couple nods to Friendship is Magic and the fanbase, it's an interesting read and paints a positive picture overall for the company as well as highlights some of the challenges they face.
In the end, good news for the network means good news for the show. Keep rocking on Hub employees!

Fascinating.
ReplyDeleteGood to see we are not being ignored as a demographic.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteAn upcoming care-bears show, eh?
ReplyDeleteExcelsior!
ReplyDelete(Onward and upward to a brighter tomorrow.)
I'm glad to see that they gave as an accepting nod rather than making a big deal of us
ReplyDeleteExquisite!
ReplyDeleteThe Hub is best pony
ReplyDelete"And it's steady rise" should be "and ITS steady rise". No apostrophe.
ReplyDeleteGood to see the Hub is doing well. So far I've really only watched Dan Vs and MLP, I couldn't really get into Transformers Prime. Here's to hoping for many more years of great shows from the Hub! *toasts*
ReplyDeleteSplendid! It'd be really depressing if My Little Pony was cancelled because the network failed.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, I didn't know the Hub was a joint partnership between two competitors, I thought it was owned fully by Hasbro, hmm, the more you know...
ReplyDelete100k viewers per day sounds worryingly low, I know it's only in the US, but still, that really doesn't seem much.
IMO Michael Bay ruined transformers
ReplyDelete@Topitmunkeydog
ReplyDeleteIMO They were fun movies, and that's all I ever wanted from a live-action TF movie. I will always have the 1986 TF-The Movie anyhow.
“Whenever we put new episodes on, we pop numbers. You used to be able to do more with less, but now it’s important to put new shows up quickly.”
ReplyDeleteSounds encouraging.
I wonder if they take the thousands upon thousands of viewers of live streams into accout. They do show commercials on there after all.
ReplyDeleteAh good to hear that it is going well for them, hope they have continuing growth!
ReplyDeleteExcellent to see The Hub is doing good as a network. Naturally the ratings are going to be hit and miss because the stupid CATV & Satellite operators are charging an extra $10 to $20 a month to get The Hub plus 20 extra channels of TRASH! (I know because my bill is about $80 with DirecTV! But for The Hub, it's worth it!) And with the economy the way it is, The Hub will continue to face a challenge until the economy kicks back up again. At least the article on The Hub is positive!
ReplyDeletePretty good article, albeit a little short overall. Still, it's good to hear that The Hub is doing well enough for them to take a few risks.
ReplyDeleteDepending on who's behind the new Care Bears I might give that one a look. Still on the fence concerning Dan Vs. but based on what some people have been saying I think I'll give it a shot one day. Same goes for Transformers Prime.
One thing I just noticed was that Transformers Prime is getting a season 1 Blu-ray release tomorrow. While I know that overall Transformers has a huge following, I'm hoping that MLP gets at least a Blu-ray season announcement sometime soon. Hopefully seeing Transformers get one is a positive sign towards that.
I don't have much hope for that care bears show... Lauren Faust is, in my opinion, the main reason something 95% of America despised into something the majority of the people who watch the first 5 minutes love. And as far as I know, Faust isn't related to Care Bears, what with her new show.
ReplyDeleteAs for 100k views a day, not to bad I suppose, it's a morning show after all, and on a, for the most part, pay-channel(?), whatever the term for a channel you have to pay extra for is. No doubt the iTunes downloads and all that other stuff isn't a factor to the daily view count either. Along with steady positive slope in views (profit), I'd definitely say the show and channel is safe. Oh, look at me ramble on about something I don't understand.
As much as i cringe at the name... ~care... bears~ *shiver*, i have to admit that i used to have the same reaction to mlp (the old one). Who knows i guess...
ReplyDeleteNew Care Bears, eh? It could go either like Strawberry Shortcake, or MLP. Hopefully the latter. Anyone know who's developing it? I can't any info other than it's CG. And those few pics don't instill much confidence.
ReplyDelete'Increasingly, a steady release of new content has become key—even for kids. “Whenever we put new episodes on, we pop numbers,” Loesch said. “You used to be able to do more with less, but now it’s important to put new shows up quickly.”'
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean season 4 confirmed?
@WeaponFanfic Definitely check out Dan Vs. I think it's hilarious, second best show on the Hub. I'm still not loving Transformers Prime, but it's growing on me. The CG still looks cheap to me.
ReplyDeleteIt is a good sign. The Hub, however, would get better numbers, if the network were to be as accessible as CN, Nick, and Disney. You have to subscribe to some of the higher premium services to get the network on most cable and satellite providers. Still, it's nice to see positive news for the network.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts on the HUB shows:
ReplyDeleteMLP: FIM, do I really need to say anyhting?
Transformers Prime, A pretty good show, even if CGI cartoons look like crap a year after you see them.
Dan Vs., Absolutely fantastic, one of the funniest shows on TV.
G.I. Joe Renegades, My third favorite show on the channel, behind MLP and Dan Vs. I hate that Hasbro put it on hiatus for the new movie.
Let me go ahead and predict the HUB's response statement. *ahem*
ReplyDelete"We here at HUB are delighted that our commitment to family-friendly programming, such as Transformers and My Little Pony, has generated so much success. Modern, conscientious families are clearly reacting pony to our philosophy of providing pony the whole family can pony. As we move pony, we predict that our pony will pony exponentially by ponying to pony our pony pony. Additionally, pony pony pony pony pony pony pony MORE PONY ALL THE TIME. PONY MARATHONS CONSTANTLY."
good for them! :D
ReplyDeletelets tank then by wattching some more hub :)
Them Care Bears had better be careful, because Hub is the place where PONIES FIGHT BEARS!!!
ReplyDeleteCan we just clone Lauren Faust?
ReplyDelete@cardshark78
ReplyDeleteHeck, I'd pay that money just for the Hub itself. It's an excellent family station that shows old and new shows. I first heard of it because it was going to air Happy Days, and the rest is history.
Good to hear The Hub is doing well, and I'm certain the success of MLP played a major role with that! :)
ReplyDeleteNow if only DirecTV can put The Hub on their Basic Tier, instead of having us pay extra to get it...
@Sothalic
ReplyDeleteThe Hub is indeed a joint venture between Hasbro and Discovery, but the two are not competitors. The reference in the article to giving "money to a competitor" concerns the difficulty in getting competing toy companies like Mattel to make ad buys on The Hub.
Carebears huh who knew but my alliance is with my ponies I could never betray them i sense a magical war or just another try at reviving a franchise either way I stick with Dashie... Er I mean the ponies!
ReplyDelete@TJSlipperman
ReplyDeleteReally? My family back home has Dish Network and we get the Hub no strings attached. One of the many reasons I'm psyched to head home for Spring Break this weekend.
Too bad she wasn't a question about Bronies.
ReplyDeleteEven objectively speaking MLP or more accurately its fanbase as gotten more mainstream attention than any other Hub related thing.
Even though I don't have the Hub network, I applaud they're good work! And for giving us Ponies!
ReplyDeleteI knew it would be a good article when I saw that the header picture was actually from the right generation.
