We actually interviewed William Anderson a while back for all the new people out there. It's definitely worth a read, especially if you plan on a career in music. He needs more love!
Anyway, back to the subject at hand; Will has modified his home page with his pony as the opener, making him even more of a badass.
I love this team so much.

ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeletePsst..It's not first backwards! I like turtles and Final Fantasy XIII
ReplyDeleteIt bothers me that his tail has no reflection.

ReplyDeletenice, very cool that william did this, and a very nice pic.
ReplyDeleteWe love the music this man has made! That is just too cool!
ReplyDeleteHe's awesome and one of the unsung heroes of the show.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorites pieces of music off the top of my head.

William Anderson is best background pony.
ReplyDeleteYay yay William Anderson!
ReplyDeleteMr. Anderson is indeed badass.
ReplyDeleteUohhhh InfnityDash is gonna love this one! :3
ReplyDeletePlease fix the link at the top to be cleaner. It should be http://edvedd.deviantart.com/art/MLPSM-William-Kevin-Anderson-261822683

ReplyDeleteHe does fantastic work, and his music really helps set the tones of the episodes.
ReplyDeleteGive this man your money.
Yeah, William Anderson is a pretty cool guy and a great composer. He deserves more props. And it's awesome he put him pony self as the opening image to his site. Very awesome of him. :)
ReplyDeleteOh man, and he's got a NIN shirt, so much brohoof.
ReplyDeleteThis man is pure awesome :D
ReplyDeletePure awesome.
ReplyDeleteWilliam totally deserves more recognition. One of my favorite things about old cartoons (basically Animaniacs and prior) was the fact that the score totally matched the action on-screen and had lots of hidden references to older songs. MLP has totally gone back to that with things like Yakkety Sax, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, etc.
ReplyDeleteWas a little disappointed to not hear a take on the Indiana Jones theme in Daring-Do's adventures, but oh well. Lucasfilms probably would have had a fit if it even remotely sounded like it, anyways.
William and Ingram, man.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing tag-team.
William Anderson is now best background music composer.
ReplyDeleteThe MLP team is just awesome.
ReplyDeleteMajor props to this man for putting together the music for this awesome show. Yay!
ReplyDeleteDeliciousness in infinite and from now on, I shall call Mr. Anderson, My Little Neo :3
ReplyDeleteWhat a freaking awesome guy :D
ReplyDeleteGreat guy. That is without a doubt the best opener for a website ever and that interview was pretty nice as well.
ReplyDeleteOMG, Biker Mice From Mars. I remember watching that show when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteAll my love to you Mr. Anderson! I've always said a good show / movie is still nothing without great music to back it up. While you may not get all the attention you probably deserve I say your songs are just as important and memorable as Ingram's. Also that is a freakin awesome home page.
ReplyDeleteI really need to think about commissioning or drawing my own OC, seems it's all the rage these days. Do any of you guys know of anyone who takes OC commissions?
I have GOT to check this out as soon as possible. I'm a total fanboy for William's work. He's a genius and every episode is scored brilliantly, ambitiously, and perfectly. I've never heard a single note that was out of place. So fantastic to see him getting more recognition.
ReplyDeleteAnd that artwork is BOSS. I guess Mr. Anderson is a brony too? I approve of this.
William's music helps MAKE so many of the most memorable and awesome scenes in this show, and I am so thankful to this fandom for being so good at giving him love. Every marathon we run, every new episode we watch together, someone in our community points out the background music as being awesome. Most of us know Anderson by name, and even those that don't, when told, usually go "Oh, that's the guy who did the background music? He's great."
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's my ignorance, and forgive me if I'm wrong, but I really don't know of any other fandom that points out and appreciates the background music and its composer as an integral part of the show. As a composer and musician myself, seeing this kind of thing makes me incredibly happy. And it seems Anderson appreciates it as well, enough to give us a BIG shoutout on his website to show his appreciation for our support?
William Anderson, you just put a pony as your home page's splash image. I can't tell you how awesome that makes you.
Seriously, William Anderson needs more recognition. Much of the episodes are built upon; every element that makes the show great needs to stick in, and that includes the background music. I can't say anything more than what I can compose, the guys above me have all covered for the best.
ReplyDeleteIf you guys are curious regarding his work, check in the following YouTube accounts and links:

Putting pony artwork on your website. Makes me smile. Now I gotta catch the marathon later today! Gonna sleepie.
So awesome!
ReplyDeleteI for one welcome this change. Will Anderson is such a boss!
ReplyDeleteI always felt this guy needed more love. ^_^
ReplyDeleteIt's so awesome to see William getting so much love. His music is one of the many reasons why this show is completely awesome. :D
ReplyDeleteI love what he's done with his web site! I think it's wonderful that we fans show such warm appreciation towards everyone that works on the show. :D
William is just a genius, love his work and he is best pony!
ReplyDeleteWilliam Anderson's work is truly extraordinary, and plays a much larger role in defining the feel of Friendship is Magic than most fans may realize.
ReplyDeleteThat, of course, is the mark of genius in scoring animated productions.
While it's gratifying to see Mr. Anderson get the attention he deserves, the power of his art is greatest when we don't pay attention to it.
Either way, everyone wins.
I love you, William Anderson! Your score is simply awesome. It really makes the magic happen.
ReplyDeleteThe Earthworm Jim theme xD
ReplyDeleteIt is a pleasure to watch vocal free my little pony episodes and just enjoy the background music
ReplyDeleteMr Anderson I salute you and you cannot be praised enough
Cool.
ReplyDeleteThe music for the show is always great.

ReplyDeleteFinally he gets some recognition, It always angered me when people think Daniel Ingram did the BG music.
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME! I like the background music, and the musical cues this show has.
ReplyDeletePonify ALL the creators! :D
ReplyDeleteThis just made my life. So awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you all. You guys are so cool.
ReplyDelete@willheim
ReplyDeleteI will push the fanboy in me down to a reasonable level and just say that your music is great, and you are completely awesome for giving us a shoutout on your website and for coming here to respond to our comments.
Thanks for the Earthworm Jim theme, and for all your great music in MLP:FiM.
@willheim
ReplyDeleteWoah, woah, WOAH. Hold the phone already. You did the Earthworm Jim theme? Okay, I'm pretty sure I still have all the lyrics and music to that song memorized. Apparently I've loved your music ever since I was a really young kid. Awesome.
I applaud you so much for your fantastic work.
@willheim
ReplyDeleteWoah woah woah. THE William Anderson commenting here?!
All I can say is, the work you do is amazing, incredible, and fantastic. (Yes, all three :P) It makes scenes in the show really come alive beyond what the animation and dialog can do on their own.
So on behalf of the entire fandom, thanks dude!!
Oh and you did the Earthworm Jim cartoon theme song. GROOVY!
@MandoPony
ReplyDeleteLol, I didn't see your post before commenting. The fact we both started with "woah woah woah" is fitting I guess! XD
Earthworm Jim was one of my favorite themes! I wrote the lyric, music, orchestrated it, conducted it, and sang it! I also whistled the bridge section...Good times.
ReplyDeleteMy sincerest thanks once again to all you fans of the show. I bust my ass week after week on this show and I cannot tell you how gratifying it is to be appreciated by such a dedicated group. I also want to acknowledge Kristopher Gee who has been working with me on this series since day one. The score would not be what it is without him. He is with me in the trenches day after day. And weekend after weekend. And Marc Perlman, music editor without equal, who became available this year and is equally dedicated to putting out the best score we are capable of.
And Jordan! Thanks again for the wonderful artwork!!!! What a great surprise to find it just floating around out there on the interwebs! You coulda told me, ya' know!
And Lucas, thanks for letting me know about this post, wow!
Allright, my carriage is turning back into a pumpkin. Time to crack open 25 and get to work.
Go Ponies!
@willheim: But Mr. Anderson, I'm not Edvedd! All I did was link to the artwork.
ReplyDelete@willheim
ReplyDelete"And Lucas, thanks for letting me know about this post, wow!"
Anytime~ =) Keep rocking out the fantastic music!
Jordan,
ReplyDeleteI just spaced on my post - thanks for correcting - I thanked Edmond on his deviant art page, and I meant to here as well - let's get this right:
And Edmond! Thanks again for the wonderful artwork!!!! What a great surprise to find it just floating around out there on the interwebs. You coulda told me, ya' know!
I love how they remastered the intro theme for the second season. I haven't seen the new episode yet so I hope it sounds just as good.
ReplyDelete@bro-knee: The theme song stays the same in episodes 3 through 26/28 of season 2. If you've heard it once, you've heard them all.
ReplyDelete@willheim
ReplyDeleteI have always found the background music in MLP:FiM to be an integral, yet relatively underappreciated aspect of the show's charm. I'll echo what others have said. You certainly deserve more recognition for your impressive work.
@willheim
ReplyDeleteTrust me - your work totally does not go unrecognized! What you guys do week after week is nothing short of phenomenal. Thanks to you, me and thousands of others can get some happiness and smiles in their lives.
Thank you for your music! And keep being awesome!
