ReplyDeleteThat was pretty awesome.
ReplyDeleteThis looks nice. I got spare time.

ReplyDeleteThis fandom has stories with 500k+ words. Your argument is invalid.
Will probably read this story, I'm always game for some Discord.
i may have to read this, just cause of the awesome image
ReplyDeleteI'm liking this premise, and that is one awesome picture. I think I'll read this later today.
ReplyDeleteDiscord's History has some downsides and upsides that can never be changed again.
ReplyDeleteSecond fanfic I've ever really read.. I'm afraid I'll have to read a few more soon..
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it was really great.
Well I was gunna do homework but but screw it. Discord comes first
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely worth the read.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!
ReplyDeleteHasbro should really go deep into discord's past
This is a marvelous piece, an example of how to journal-style writing properly. The voice of the writer matures over time and remains continually believable, leading us through triumph and heartbreak, and ultimately a very dark view of early Equestria.
ReplyDeleteIt was good, but I wasn't totally blown away. It had good potential, and to the author's credit they do a excellent job of portraying a maturing voice as Discord grows older, but it didn't really leave an emotional impact with me by the end.
ReplyDelete*Spoilers below*
The journal-style does limit the ways the story can communicate with the reader more than usual narrative, and the author compensates by using some clever tricks here and there like with the first Book where the pages were ripped out.
The first three chapters all tell a realistic and interesting story of the character's early life, but I feel that the fourth book is where it started to fall apart. Everything after the fire just didn't seem to feel as natural or coherent with the rest of the story.
*Discord was able to get out of his burning house through a window, but chose to save his diary rather than his family. I understand that the author had to keep the diary in the story so that the narrative could continue, but when he spent so much time in the story going on about Discord's love for his family and creating a realistic portrayal of how a character behaves and reacts to past situations, this just seems inappropriate.
*Discord's sudden rise to power is just that--completely sudden and entirely unexplained. He just gets them. It feels completely detached from the rest of the plot and makes it feel like the writer was just trying to finish it.
*This may be nit-picking, but it also doesn't seem right that at the end, Discord remembered one of his father's words of advice from an unspecified length of time ago, but can't remember his family.
The set-up was well done, and everything felt natural. But the last part just soured everything that the rest of the story was building up to.
I give it a 4/5
good read
ReplyDeletesigh let me guess another "LETS MAKE DISCORD SYMPATHETIC AND TRAGIC" fic.
ReplyDeleteI really REALLY hate that fanon (along with Discord shipping which makes even less sense)
Discord has at NO point shown even a HINT of goodness and if anything he is more the living embodiment of a concept then a creature who has family or grows old or whatever.
Making a villain tragic does not always make them better, especially when it doesn't seem to make sense.
Discord works BECAUSE he is a purely sadistic wretch because that is his nature, he is chaos and disorder personified.
I cried. Let the hatahs say what they will but this was awesome :'3

ReplyDeleteHello there, I'm Solarios, the author.
First, thank you for your critic.
Second, clever of you to notice those logical errors.
Third, I admit Discord got his powers quite suddenly, but it wasn't because I already wanted to finish the story. This isn't the last you'll hear of me; I'll continue writing, and I promise the source of Discord's powers will be explained in a future story.
Until next time.
Tragic kirin/qilin is tragic.
ReplyDeleteVERY good. Can't say it's the best I've ever read, but then again-I just read Blue Sky and My Little Dashie. Nonetheless, Discord being one of my favorite characters, I loved the positive yet sympathetic view of him.
ReplyDeleteThe ending was somewhat dissapointing-but in a good way. Like Portal 2. Sad, short and longing for more, but also practically begging for fanfic sequels.
As for other notes-I thought my heart exploded when I found out he had a family. Twice, when I found out he forgot them. /Very/ dramatic. It almost kills off any urge to ship Discord.
Really well done. There are few fanfics that I would want made canon, but, personally, I think there's an episode here.
