The guys over at PonyKart have released another video, primarily focusing on concept art with a bit of crowd pony display at the end. This is looking to be an epic one! I can't wait to see a demo or something in the future.
I also see a focus on Twilight for driving, which is a win in my book.
Check out their website for more updates in the future!

ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what fans can do when they put their minds to it. Hell, this may one day get the attention of Hasbro and have it actually released. After some refining with a bigger budget, of course.
ReplyDeleteMore Pony Kart updates? Make it so!!! ^_^
ReplyDeleteLOL I want to give them my money ALREADY.
ReplyDeleteThis is shaping up to be really good. Definitely following the development of this game.
"Win in my book" that pun better have been intended.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know, you can play this if you search around the ponykart site a bit. There was a guide on the ponychan thread, but I don't know if it's still up.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. The Background ponies part is the one that got me the most. Oh my God, this is going to be a fantastic game. I haven't seen these levels of profesionalism anywhere in a long time.
ReplyDeleteGreat work you guys!
Th- thi- This is incredible! Holy cow!
ReplyDelete@Iasius
ReplyDeleteAlso, I wont tell you guys how to download it, since I don't have any permission from the PonyKart guys.
Wow simply amazing just goes to show you how dedicated loyal fans of an awesome show can be. Also go karts are awesome:)
ReplyDeleteThey messed up on Lyra but overall good job.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty awesome...but why would I need a kart when I could just fly my way to victory?
ReplyDeleteThis is coming along nicely, can't wait to see how it all develops from here :) and of course play the game.
ReplyDelete@lasius
ReplyDeleteIt looks to be open source (via SVN), so any interested ponies can just checkout it from Sourceforge.
I know this is simple animation testing, but Lyra should surely be on her back in those stands.
ReplyDeleteAnywho, time to show off to my non-brony friends.
I think the karts should be louder. I'm really exited anyways and I'm looking forward to see more of the tracks and stuff =D
ReplyDeleteI WANT THIS GAME ON STEAM!!!!! 8D
ReplyDeleteOMG, last frame, FLUFFYPONE LIVES
ReplyDeletesweet...
ReplyDeleteSorry if my voice was a bit quiet in this by the way. I thought it was loud enough but a lot of people have said it was pretty quiet. If I'll be doing another one of these I'll speak up more
ReplyDeleteThe work is incredible!! I love the concept art and the additions to Sweet Apple Acres are excellent! I can't wait to see how this turns out.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to see so much interest! Knighty you did an excelent job!
ReplyDelete@knighty
ReplyDeleteI think it was just a matter of the recording input level being too low, rather than how you were talking. Always a good idea to normalize your audio after recording, as well.
This is so cool~ <3
ReplyDeleteDos graphics. Dos animations. UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU SOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD
ReplyDeleteneeeeeeeeeeaaaat
ReplyDeleteThis fandom is SO AWESOME! /)^3^(\
ReplyDeleteWell, that was awesome and oh jesus christ what was that thing at the end i dont even--
ReplyDelete@Rainbow Dash Because there's a 'no wings' rule obviously. I'm sure you remember what happened when you tried to break that rule in the Running of the Leaves race.
ReplyDeleteA warning if you do try and play it - there is a reason there's no prebuilt link yet, the game isn't nearly as smooth (in camera or control) playing the build as it is in the SAA video.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this. Played around a bit (testlevel is best level) and it's starting to shape up nicely.
ReplyDeleteContinue to be impressed by this!
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely incredible! I can't believe how beautiful and well done this is! If Hasbro was smart they'd hire everyone involved with this and the Fighting is Magic crew and just make the best games!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap those ponies look so GOOD!!! that animation is better than I ever thought possible for 3D ponies! This is so freaking professional! PLEASE TAKE MY MONEY!
ReplyDeleteI like the simple art style they went with: it preserves the cartoon feel of the show, but allows for 3-d. very nice. Also, great job with the background characters!
ReplyDelete...but Lyra should be sitting more like a human...
(And Bon-Bon slightly less so, I suppose)
Looks so cool!, sure takes some time, but good things take some time
ReplyDeleteHoly crap. This is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThis looks really good! Can't wait for all these pony games in development I've seen as of late to be finished in coming years.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is awesome stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting a Crash Team Racing vibe from the artwork.
ReplyDeleteI swear, if Pony Kart and Fighting Is Magic were released on the same day I think I would explode twice from the awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteThey could easily sell tons of copies if they had it out for the DS or something. Or at least get their time's worth by selling it through Steam!
ReplyDelete....*slow clap*
ReplyDeleteYou all are just so... so awesome. Wow. Just wow. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!
just gunna mirror the Lyra sitting wrong sentiment
ReplyDeleteOfficial material wouldn't be better.
ReplyDeleteThese look waaaaay better than the G-mod ponies, but I still think the eyes are a little too big and the rest of the face a little too small.
ReplyDeleteTwilight's an excellent driver btw: she always looks behind the vehicle when backing up.
ReplyDelete@PsychedelicBrony
ReplyDeleteIs that what this is animated with?
...I think I might check that out...
@Paraderpy
ReplyDeleteCan you do that? Can you explode twice?!
they should have made the fan pony Lyra sitting like a human. I can't wait to see if Pinkie Pie's car can break the 4th wall! lol
ReplyDeleteI can't drive 55 - but I will in that sweet ride. Pony cars! WOOT!
ReplyDeleteI like how these guys are more careful about putting clones of the same characters in a crowd than the actual makers of the show. :P
ReplyDeletewonder if they have turbo boosters
ReplyDeleteThese guys are trying their darnedest to catch up with the Fighting is Magic crew in terms of awesomeness. MUST PLAY.
ReplyDeleteIt is only a few gigabytes worth of SDK to download to build this, followed by a few megabytes of svn client stuff and then some hundreds of megabytes to check the project out. It is easy to build and test this yourself. You don't even need to edit any files. Just check out, load the project and hit run.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone catch a glimpse of that poofy pony at the end, Its kind of hard to pause it at the right moment but it looks like the shaggy dog of the pony race, wonder what it would be used for
ReplyDeleteI don't want to nitpick, but Lyra is sitting in wrong way. It's too... normal.
ReplyDeleteSaid it on derphooves, say it here:
ReplyDeleteI'm looking more forward to this than Mario Kart 7 and I'm a rabid fan of the MK series.
Hope Hasbro takes the team and makes it an officially licensed 3DS game.
This is absurd. I think I am looking forward to this just as much as D3, and certainly more than ME3.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't to say I'm not super-hyped for a lot of games, those two included. It's just bloody marvellous, flippin' STAGGERING to see how good this game is looking! The attention to detail is absurd, and the love and care put into this is evident.
And Commander Shepard ain't a pony.
I'm also looking forward for some pony games more than many console games. How ironic XDDD
ReplyDeleteMy congratulations to Ponykart's staff. They're doing a GREAT job here, everything looks so professional ^^
Heh. Funny... In the last 3-4sec. of the video, we can see the 3D model of 'Fluffle Puff' :) : http://mixermike622.deviantart.com/art/FLUFFLE-PUFF-277414155
ReplyDeleteIm just going to let people know, there is a mediafire link with the alpha if people want to test it out. but please dont post it here or anywhere else.
ReplyDeleteLyra is sitting funny.
ReplyDeleteJK, this is gonna be awesome.
Oh man, i am a HUGE Kart style racing game fan. This... this is like the epic icing on the already epic icing that has been added to the original icing of the epic cake known as MLP. That's a lot of icing. Fighting is Magic is still on my "Watch" List... but this has officially outranked it. Cant wait to see more, go Pony Kart team go!
ReplyDeleteI would pay $20 to buy this on Steam.
ReplyDeleteThat aside, it looks like the developers for this are creating the tools we would need for making other 3D pony games. The possibilities are endless.
