Brony@Home Update
After almost two months of dedication, our Brony@Home competitors are on their final week. Congratulations to those who have participated, both for the competition, and for simply helping out the team. The winners will be announced shortly after the deadline for the final week, on Sunday the 26th, at 00:00 GMT. Winners will have three days to claim their prizes before a runner up is chosen.
We may or may not hold further competitions in the future, but for the time being, if you wish to help out, or just want to know what this project is, check out the link below:

Finland Article Translation!
This article popped up on the Finland news site Aamulehti. Jussi has translated it for us, with a bit of nonsense cut out! Check it out below:
The term 'Brony' stands for 15-35 year old, generally male, fans of the animated TV series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, a show originally meant for young girls. The Brony community also includes women, although they are a minority. For example from the almost one hundred participants in the meetup in Helsinki in February only ten were women.
Apart from watching the show the bronies also maintain blogs and forums and produce fan art, make remixes of the musical numbers in the show, make custom figurines, do their own fan animations and write fan fiction about their favorite characters. For example, one of the most popular pony fan fictions, called Fallout: Equestria, stands over 620 000 words long, and is therefore longer than Leo Tolstoi's War and Peace.
Friendship is Magic promotes important values such as caring and accepting difference, as well as having a general positive outlook on life. The message of the show sits well with older audiences as well, says a pony fan from Tampere in an interview for Aamulehti.
-For many the community is much more important than the series. It's not about the ponies, but the people

Friendship Express Is Widescreen
On the Amazon Page, they apparently had it listed as Fullscreen instead of Widescreen. For those that were put off by that, it was apparently an error! So... Charge!

Howdy from Houston EqD! The Rice University Brony group hosted this meetup, where we played
Pony Jepordy, with categories like "What are you, a Dictionary?", "Things Pinkie Says", and
"Obscure Unicorn History". After that one of the Brony artists among us explained how he made
this Rarity poster used for the Winter BroNYcon, and we finished out the night with some episodes of
MLP and pony youtube vids. It was a blast!

Makes sense.
Very early roundup. O_o Got to meet Jayson Thiessen today at Animation on Display in San Francisco. SUPER NICE GUY!! MLP is in good hands bronies.
ReplyDeleteNever played Okami, but I suddenly want to. Also lasers and ponified asteroids are awesome :D
ReplyDeleteCan't stop the invasion :) It's inevitable.
Awake when the roundup goes up... I need to go to sleep.
ReplyDeleteearly round up! that RD cake is probably the best one ive seen in a while! so, smile smile smile!! XD
ReplyDeleteHave you NOT played Okami yet?
ReplyDeleteYou should fix that. IMMEDIATELY.
Would pay so much money for a pony'd Okami...
ReplyDeleteOkay, that's pretty good for a Dash cake- HEY, WAIT A MINUTE
ReplyDeleteOKAY, so the Friendship Express is Wodescreen, good to know.
I was thinking, lasers are the closest way to get a true Asteroids gameplay feel since it's so hard to find working vector monitors anymore.
ReplyDeleteWOW and here I was thinking that Pic of Rarity was going to be some type of MLP Movie
ReplyDeleteSee Roundup, go to sleep.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading that bit about Fallout: Equestria being longer than War and Peace, I just can't stop laughing. That is so brilliant. I love this fandom.
ReplyDeleteI kinda find it annoying sometimes to explain fim to people.A new brony (that i introduced fim to) at my school wanted to show fim to another guy.I had to tell it again.I freaking new every word and talked really fast, thats how much i have to explain it.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually awake for one of these. Confound these ponies, they drive me to insomnia!
ReplyDelete(Oh, god, I've wanted to say that for two months now.)
Don't care too much for that Rarity cake.
ReplyDeleteYou SHOULD play Okami. It's the second best Zelda game ever made.
ReplyDeletePlay Okami. Best game on PS2.
ReplyDeleteOAHU BRONY MEETUPS!
ReplyDeleteJust to let you guys know I run the South-Eastern Maine Brony meetup group, so if you're around Cumberland/Sagadahoc/York/ any other South-Eastern Maine county we need members!
ReplyDeleteThat was a very positive article!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite game of all time just exceeded all potential boundaries of epicness and win.
ReplyDeletejeez it 2:55 am i think equestria daily has gone to bed for the night *sigh* im not tired D:
ReplyDeleteSpelled "Parasprite" wrong
ReplyDeleteI lol'd at the VLC screenshot, go ponies!
I prefer Media Player Classic to VLC but still awesome that they have ponies on their site.

ReplyDeleteBronies. Pegasisters. I don't know why so many people (both genders apparently) find "pegasisters" such a revolting label! I am a PROUD pegasister! If I had a choice, really... i'd pick that over brony ANY DAY. Maybe it's the labels THEMSELVES, serving to curtly identify we entities, that we rebel against for being unfairly sparse due some passing infatuation? I don't know.
ReplyDeleteAll we can do is accept that simple filing helps sustain and identify us all in general terms, hm? The internet and growing social links insist we be categorized! As the saying goes, "you're an individual, just like everyone else!". DAMN the categories I say! We love what we love, do as we do, and feel as we feel via our own particulars!
Rant closed. Whoops!
:o Didn't know we had an article in a local newspaper! That mention of FO:E wasn't on the internet version of the article, though. Maybe they edited it out or it's only in the printed version?
ReplyDeleteI have to say, most of the comments on the page were pathetic. :P Then again, what can you expect from "normal" people who can't accept anything different. -.-
Also, yay VLC! :D
OMG, guys, I just noticed, we are gonna see the counter at 123456789 today xD
ReplyDeleteOCD ftw
I'm still waiting for my university to have a brony meeting... so if you're in the big apple (and you're from the big apple if you cringed just reading that) and go to a university, make an event already!
ReplyDeleteWhat, I could do it?
I'm too lazy.
I'm almost certain FiM didn't premier on october 11, 2011
ReplyDeleteBut hey that could just be me......
dat cake
ReplyDeleteOkay, let's see this round up, woooow it's big! Let's see what have here.
ReplyDelete>There is a screen shot of Party of One on the VLC page.
Oh wow. I think those who are angry at us are actually right. There is ponies everywhere guys, no slow down on the invasion.
Yes! Finally the Austrian Meetup got posted!
ReplyDeleteThat Finnish brony article in the Valo paper was pretty nice. Not just a small strip buried somewhere on the pages, but a full cover picture and a three page article that was wholly positive to boot. Definitely a good one.
ReplyDeleteThat parasprite invaders game is pretty neat!
ReplyDeleteYou guys really should join up with brony@home if you can. Remember you don't need a beefy computer to participate; a Pentium 4 or equivalent processor is fast enough to complete work units on time, and most (non-integrated) GPUs are more than fast enough to pump out points. It's all about time not necessarily power. Plus it's all for helping understand genes and potentially cure diseases.
That's not a Rarity cake...
ReplyDeleteYay for European Bronies
ReplyDelete@bestpony? AJ ;): I got to meet Jayson, too!
ReplyDeleteInvading VLC!? Ponies are getting into more and more random places...
ReplyDeleteI like that article, explaining the whole thing in a positive light.
Oh, man, as delicious as those cakes look, I probably couldn't bear to cut them up - they'd be in display cases.
The Austrian bronies went WHERE!? O_o
...that Rarity cake... I think it's also R63... 0_0
ReplyDeleteOMG RICE UNIVERSITY HAS A BRONY GROUP I MUST TRANSFER ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI already wanted to go there for their awesome nanotech and materials science stuff anyway.
... That's not a custom of me.
ReplyDeleteGlad u guys like my parasprite invaders games!
ReplyDeleteActually, looks more like an Elusive cake
ReplyDelete@Flutterfan
ReplyDeleteI could see Gendo being a Brony, lord knows Evangelion could use freindship and magic
Can someone tell me how to contact the Houston group?
ReplyDeleteGoddamnit, why are there never any central MA meetups? :(
ReplyDeleteFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU~
ReplyDeleteWhy is there never any meetup stuff for the UK?
Not that I'd go... I'm FlutterGuy.
To whoever is running the survey, I'd like to put out there that I'm a PhD student in statistics. If you'd like assistance in analyzing your results, I'd be more than happy to help. Plus I could really use the work.
ReplyDeleteThe Rice group needs to publicize their meetings better. I was even at Rice yesterday...
ReplyDelete@Justin
ReplyDeleteYou sir, don't know how much I just laughed at your comment xD
VERY TRUE LOL
That Okami picture...
