A couple of new images of one of the Princess Cadence toys have popped up. It looks like they will be rolling with a giant sized one similar to the talking Celestia from a while back.
I still wonder what crazy geneology spawned this princess that keeps breaking all the rules, but I'm sure we will find out with the episode. Here's to hoping it's a "Bride goes CRAZY" one! Wouldn't THAT be interesting.

It's possible this may have been born out unsold and returned taking Celestia dolls. Hasbro has to have taken a hit from the amount of people who refused to buy a totally inaccurately coloured toy. Even on clearance.

And wouldn't introducing a freaking GODDESS as just a throwaway character be an insult to our viewers' intelligence? And not only that, does this not suggest something along the lines of "unless you have wings and a horn you can never be a princess in Equestria," thereby basically taking a shot at young girls' self esteem? Does this not risk causing the show to jump the shark, sir?

I thought she was the best looking of the original half dozen or so they created. I've noticed that the color green is conspicuously absent from any pony in MLP:FIM, even among background ponies.

I don't get all the hate. We know nothing about her, and people are saying that it ruins the show (Translation: Their more than likely horribly based fanfic)and that it was shoehorned in by evil marketing executives, then somehow connecting to the pink Princess Celestia thing. I wonder if the same thing would be said if Cadence was a different color.

ReplyDeleteShe's a pink Alicorn character that showed up along with a male unicorn (her love interest) named Shining Armor. No word yet to whether or not she'll appear in the show. Won't be surprised if she does, according to Lauren Faust, Hasbro would sometimes ask them to incorporate a character from the toy line into the show, and it seems like they'll want to hype up Cadence.
I'm wondering if there will be a episode with some definitive information about the Royal Genealogy. Making Blue Blue a prince was bad enough(I'd have preferred he was still a Duke) but, where is Cadence from? Note: I'm not hating on her, It is just confusing for another Princess who has never been mentioned before to be introduced. I'm gonna assume that she is not as powerful as Celestia or Luna.

Hasbro is a toy company. They make and sell toys. They own My Little Pony and can do whatever the hay they want with it. It is only by their good graces that the show we love exists -- without the toys, there'd be no show. I think it's pretty damned presumptuous to call Hasbro retarded for not changing their (evidently rather successful) business model to cater to the whims of an unexpected periphery demographic. In other words: no, Hasbro is not retarded; yes, it is about the toys; and what "it should be" is whatever Hasbro decides it should be, because it belongs to them.
If Hasbro were to make show-accurate toys for us, that'd be incredibly awesome of them, but it would only be the icing on the cake; the cake itself is pretty damn sweet to begin with. Be grateful for it. Enjoy the show, enjoy the fandom's creations, and be glad that Hasbro hasn't decided to stomp those creations into oblivion, because it is within their power and their rights to do so.
