It's time for an activity book dump! We've received several of these recently, so I'm compiling them all into one post for your convenience. Yes, they're still using the stock vectors from a year ago. Yes, I sighed when I saw them.
Check the break! Sponsored by Brony Cola, because I'm taking Phoe's line.
The header image is for the first book, called Cutie Mark Quest. From the email:
Also there was a story and sticker book that must have appeared there during the last week, "Cutiemark Quest - A Panoramic Sticker Storybook". The book set me back $7.99, so it's definitely more expensive than the common coloring book, but this one isn't a coloring book at all. It's a full fledged story book that takes it's content from The Cutie Mark Chronicles, right down to screenshots of the show as artwork.
Again, a fairly basic book. There does seem to be a hilarious error in the middle, though.
Yikes. |
Next we have the UK version of the MLP Magazine, which according to the email came with a toy cellphone and a notepad, because ponies can totally use cell phones. Actually, that would be pretty funny to see Applejack try to figure out an iPhone. Someone should write a fic about that.
The magazine itself is pretty standard fare, as you can see from the table of contents. I immediately turned to the Rarity Cupcakes page, because I was hungry at the time.
You sure are, Rarity. |
Isn't Pinkie Pie the pony baker?
For reference, here's the toy phone. Apparently Equestria only has Blackberry devices.
AKTIVITETSBOK! |
Lastly we have an activity book from Norway. If anyone here can speak the language this is written in, let me know, because it all looks like Greek to me. This one actually has an online gallery, so you can check that out here.

I was at the dentist today.
ReplyDeleteMan, could I have used one of these....
So awesome
ReplyDeleteNorway....way away.
ReplyDeleteI should buy one.
ReplyDeleteSecond?
ReplyDeleteFor the love of Satan, can we get new vectors. I will sell my body on the street corner if i have to. ;-;
ReplyDeletecrap.
ReplyDeleteOh, Norway.. Balls.
ReplyDelete@wackypony Say hello to Hasbro's Marketing Division.
ReplyDeletehmm, A Pinkie-Berry. Ooookaaaaay...
ReplyDeleteHow much is a plane ticket?
ReplyDeleteProlly less than the shipping... Meh, I'll wait...
If any of you ever get a job designing these books, PLEASE REPLACE THE VECTORS!!!. But aside from that, these look pretty fun. Never can have too many stickers. Though what the hay is up with that error?! Maybe I can use this as an incentive for my sister to behave. Like I said before, she's gone absolutely pony crazy.
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDeleteI might catch less STDs if i just sell my body.
Plus it looks like RIM is thriving in Equestria. Not that it matters to me. All I use is a crummy, cheapo little phone.
ReplyDelete@wackypony lol
ReplyDelete@RavensDagger Can you put a price on adventure? (Actually you probably could. Which is mostly likely more than what's in my bank account.)
ReplyDeleteY u no use art from the show!?
ReplyDeleteSheesh, it's not like there's a shortage of it.
I'm fairly certain they speak Nowegian in Norway.
ReplyDeleteAktivitetsbok would be a cool band name.
Not only the blackberry.don't forget the there's a pony for that commercial.
ReplyDelete@wackypony true, true....
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502 if you,want an adventure, read a book. If you want a real adventure, go out and seek your fortune. Even though that usually fails, you'll be in for a big adventure.....
Use Androny Phones Equestria.
ReplyDeleteOnly unicorn ponies can use the Pinkberry.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this I yelled out "yes!"
ReplyDeleteThen I started questioning my life......hahahah
@Shire Folk I prefer all zapapple phones
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum
ReplyDelete"I went to hell and back and all I got was this My Little Pony coloring book."
...
"Totally worth it"
12 Make Rarity cupcakes
ReplyDelete0_o
AKTIVITETSBOK!
ReplyDeleteThose cupcakes look like a Wilton Cakes ad. My mom makes those sugar flowers using Wilton icing tips... She's made some flowers exactly like those, just never for cupcakes.
ReplyDeleteWeird.
Ehh...its ok.
ReplyDeleteI'm loosing my interest in buying pony collectables. Although I don't regret it, because I only bought 15 pony mini-figures and 3 pony action figures and 1 coloring book and that is pretty much it.
I lost my pony vibe a few days ago. Although, I will still watch the new episodes every Saturday that is for sure.
Activity book? Pshh that's for babies..... Wait, STICKERS!!!!
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum If that's the case, my most recent adventure was filled with pianos. No, I wasn't on acid: it was a book on how Steinways are built.
ReplyDeleteUgh, those vectors need to go!
ReplyDeleteThose captions.
ReplyDelete@Matoro
ReplyDeleteI think it probably has to do with the flood of bad news latley. You may just want to give it some time off.
Actually, I've never read fanfics before in my life but recently I'm finding that some of them are quite good. Maybe give those a shot.
@Matoro Only 15 figures? I only have a Twilight blind bag figure that I've turned into a keychain to call my own. So that number sure seems like a lot to me.
ReplyDelete@Beta-Carotene Sure the news may have something to do with it, but I think we've all had our own lulls in interest from time to time. In my case, they usually don't last long. And with "Smile, Smile, Smile" out there, I doubt I'll be experiencing any lulls any time soon.
ReplyDeleteBRONIES AND GIRLS !!!
ReplyDeleteI STARTED A NEW SERIES A MY LITTLE PONY CHATROOM!
ITS ONLY A 1:00 BUT I WANT CRITISM SO PLS CHECK IT OUT AND LEAVE A COMMENT!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF8OJbBhU4o&feature=youtu.be
Okay, we really need to make AKTIVITETSBOK! a meme.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteYou may be right. Idk though, this place began to reek quite badly a few days ago with the stench of rotten news. I just started programming and MLP based game and even I had a sudden urge to jump ship. Seems to be better now though.
Haha, actually I've spent almost the entire day cooking up an embedded scripting system for it, so I'd say I'm ok.
All hail Med Klistremerker.
ReplyDelete@KamenRiderEthanYap
ReplyDelete"Maybe if you changed your approach a bit, people would warm up to you."
"CHANGE OUR APPROACH???"
"lower the volume..."
"oooohhhh"
A MLP:FiM story/sticker book? That's new; too bad it uses the same old vectors... Wait, what's this? "screenshots of the show as artwork." OK, that's a nice change of pace, wonder what screenshAAAAAAAAAAH! WHAT THE FREAK?
ReplyDelete@Beta-Carotene It may be just me, but I never thought of jumping ship. I'm still pretty new even though I've been here three months already, so maybe that's why I still have a lot of hope that things will eventually right themselves. I'm really fortunate that the bronies I do have constant contact with have been very mature and level headed about the whole situation, so that might have something to do with it.
ReplyDeleteAn MLP game, huh. Wow! Props to you for giving that a shot. I know my way around computers, but programing is where it ends. Would like to learn it eventually.
@Beta-Caroteneok thanks
ReplyDeleteApparently, you can cure blankflankism with stickers.
ReplyDeleteNopony tell the CMCs!

ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ They might have already read your comment and are working on it. LOL
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteIt definitely has to do with who you hang around with, that's for sure. I'm glad there's enough level headed people like you here to keep things under control :)
Thanks. I don't like to shamelessly plug (oh who am I kidding, yes I do), but if you want to learn more about the project and tips on game programming, you can check out my blog:

ReplyDeleteFor the love of Celestia, would they stop using those vectors already?!
ReplyDeleteThat is some serious hyperderping going on with that one glitched out pony.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502 i do believe that we've had a discussion on piano music before
ReplyDelete"that would be pretty funny to see Applejack try to figure out an iPhone."

Father: What's that say? Activity book dump?
ReplyDeleteMe: Yes dad.
Dad: Is that like doing crosswords on the toilet?
Thank God mom hit him. Saved me from working up the need to glare unappreciatively.
@Beta-Carotene I just simply give my take. It's up to the reader to decide what message they take away from it. And nothing wrong with promoting your stuff. As long as you do it responsibly. I've got your blog on follow, so I'll definitely be keeping up with it. :D
ReplyDelete@Bombedrumbum I think we did. But you just happened to mention books and I couldn't help but throw that in there.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
Every bit helps
Already spotted and bought the Cutie Mark Quest book at Hannaford the other day, for some reason I'm kind of proud it happened before EQD had this up.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502 alrighty then.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to move on, but...
ReplyDeleteLet's face facts, the last few days have been rough. However, it's not the end of the world, the show, or Derpy. SInce the character is not named in the edited version, and has a different voice and appearance, we are justified in assuming that it is not Derpy at all. This character is an impostor.
The real Derpy is alive and well.
She is just busy wrapping up winter, cleaning up loose branches, dropping roses from clouds, dropping anvils on Twilight, hiding in chicken coops, cheering for Rainbow Dash, admiring Applebloom's loopty hooping after reverting to a filly, and defying the laws of physics by shrinking down and flying around in a snowglobe.
Derpy is best pony, and she is here to stay.
@jodyjm13
ReplyDeleteYeah, I found that story book at my local Target. The front and rear covers are bi-fold, and fold out into two panoramic scenes. The front cover folds out into the street in front of Sugarcube Corner, and the rear cover folds out to show a panoramic view of the Cloudsdale Cloudiseum. The Cloudiseum is where I found the errors. There are at least 4 or 5 ponies like that, and the only pony that isn't at least derped is only because it's facing away from the viewer... I suspect they screwed up some layers right as they were finishing up that image layout.
The actual story book's content is a pretty straight forward. It uses framed screenshots from Cutiemark Chronicles" to illustrate the story. Falling Fillyshy is still just as cute in print! :D
Due to it being intended for kids, it's much simplified from the TV show, for easier reading. The BEST PART though... "friend sandwich".
Eeyup... They seriously use the phrase "friend sandwich" as a synonym for hug in the book! Aw yeah! Well, EEEWWW in Scootaloo's case! :D
Hmmm, pretty awesome...definitely things I'd pick up if I spotted 'em at the store. I still buy Lisa Frank coloring books and such fun things for the collectible and nostalgic value (mostly!) And *lol* at the bizarre errors, AJ's Apple products, etc. x3
ReplyDelete@richfiles Friend sandwich?! I wanna know whoever came up with that one. LOL
ReplyDeleteAs for the odd looking ponies...
ReplyDelete@MyBoyJ It does beg the question of what she'll be up to on Saturday. $5 says she'll be on a poster.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteThey seem to be putting her in increasingly ridiculous places. Anything is possible. I know I will be keeping a look out for her.
@MyBoyJ
ReplyDeleteSomepony call Odysseus
@Beta-Carotene I just did. But I didn't understand a word he said. I don't speak Greek.
ReplyDelete@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteI think you're missing the bigger issue here.
Odysseus has a cell phone.
@CityFlyer502
ReplyDeleteI know, right! It's still cute, paired with a triple filly hug with Scoots in the middle...
I guess you could say it's a McScootaloo!
You know... I have to admit, it's always a nice feeling when you see a picture you took up on EqD! I should feel proud to have found an error in the book... but it's not like it was hard to miss... all 5 freaky ponies. Weird...
..And then Rarity had black hair. Seriously, I wish they'd design some new vectors already, these aren't all that good.
ReplyDelete"If anyone here can speak the language this is written in, let me know, because it all looks like Greek to me."
Come on, Cereal, it's a Germanic language, just like English. Greek is a lot harder to understand.
Yay pony stickers. Something I like about pony stickers and just sticking them wherever. lol
ReplyDeleteAs for Pinkie being a baker. She was. But she wasn't making enough bits, so she changed careers. Now she's all about the office environment. :P
@FreezingShock
ReplyDeleteWell CityFlyer apparently knows Odysseus' phone number, so if that situation ever arises, we know what to do.
We should totally convert him to a Brony. Maybe he could convince Poseidon to make a huge army of sea ponies and...
wow, I need to go to bed.
Give me that book.
ReplyDeleteHope that will be available in my country soon.
@Beta-Carotene
ReplyDeleteWho needs Poseidon?
@Ulrik
You have some competition.
@Beta-Carotene I actually found myself slumped over my computer just now, so I'll definitely be going to bed after I'm done here. An army of sea ponies doesn't sound that bad. Though I don't think that was Odysseus I was talking to...
ReplyDelete@richfiles Well now that you mention it, doesn't some country's McDonalds now carry the Scootaloo?
ReplyDeleteI have yet to submit anything here, though I'm pretty sure it must be pretty awesome.
I'm Norwegian. If you need a translation, just contact me. I do have the activity book in question, though and I can say from flipping through it that it's fairly self-explanatory.
ReplyDeleteIt's the usual "which one is different from the others?" and "how many **** are there in this picture?". The ones that might be tricky would be the coloring by numbers pages, but just checking a screenshot with the character should fix that.
Anyway, if you want a full translation, toss me a mail or something. I'll be heading to sleep soon (night shift) but once I get up I can probably throw it together.
@Hound Crendraven
ReplyDeleteDerp. Use the mail address [email protected] if you want me to do a translation.
>where friendships last forever
ReplyDeleteWell, that's depressing
Danish is my first language, which is pretty much refined Norwegian. I'd love to give it a whirl
ReplyDeleteIf Norwegian was greek to me I would understand them because I know greek, too bad it's not greek or even look like them. Norwegian look a lot more like german and other northern languages.
ReplyDeleteOMG I have to get them all.
ReplyDeleteAcquire the objectives! Acquire the objectives!
ReplyDeleteMLP magazine, I hope you come to Irealnd!
ReplyDeleteI got this yay!! Now should I fill in the activities or keep it clean???
ReplyDeleteGreek uses lot more symbols in their language (at least i think so) but norwegian, swedish and danish language are pretty similiar because they are skandinavian languages. I hope they can make it in finnish.
ReplyDeleteThank you Google Translate. Reverse Cover:
ReplyDeleteHave fun with all the sweet pony friends!
Get out the crayons and get ready for hours of magical fun with the cute friends in My Little Pony!
Twilight Sparkle's hoof was seen in 'There's a pony for that' commercial. Ponies totally use phones.
ReplyDeleteThe UK magazine has been out for a long time now and can be found pretty much anywhere you might find magazines, I know for sure that they're always there in Tesco Extra. I haven't seen this issue yet though and I'm tempted to get it even if it's just for the notepad. c:
ReplyDeleteNow we need names for those error ponies. That one pegasus looks like she has cancer...
ReplyDeleteThey make magazines? And now there's a FIM sticker book?
ReplyDeleteSHUT UP AND TAKE MY FRIENDSHIPS!
5 dollars on a ask-horribly-deformed-ponies tumblr already being made
ReplyDeletehttp://tassadoul.picturepush.com/album/196643/p-mlp-activity-book-3.html#column2::/album/196643/detail/7683371
ReplyDeleteI believe this Norwegian translates as "Which of these six is best pony?"
The people who lay out these books are probably digital prepress guys working in InDesign, just referencing existing artwork. What custom artwork exists looks a bit off, they're probably subcontracting someone to do it that isn't part of DHX, otherwise they'd be exploiting that bountiful library of Flash assets of theirs to build whatever scenes they want.
ReplyDeleteman when I bought the DVD on Amazon it showed me in the recommended section that Cutie Mark Quest Sticker thing.
ReplyDeleteMy dad can speak Norwegian, if he were here right now I'd ask him to translate.
ReplyDeleteMy sister bought the UK MLP mag and it had a plastic ukelele with it.
ReplyDeleteMy sister bought the UK MLP mag and it had a plastic ukelele with it.
ReplyDeletePreordered the stickerbook Jan 25th and just got it yesterday. However, I can't find the error...what page is it on?
