He only releases a song every other month, but damnit if they aren't epic when he does! You may be wondering why EQD is a Hey Ocean track, that's not pony right? Wrong! It's totally pony. Don't question it. Just imagine it's about Rainbow Dash riding sonic rainboom waves in the big blue while Ashleigh Ball voice acts for her.
Check it out after the break!

IT IS AMAZING EVERYONE
ReplyDeleteListened to it 3 times already.
ReplyDelete3rd
ReplyDeleteWow that was fast. It's everywhere now!
ReplyDeleteOh this is about as pony as it gets! I love it!
ReplyDeleteSuch an amazing song.
ReplyDeleteI love Alex S! I listened to it when he linked it on Facebook, and it was awesome!
ReplyDelete@Strawberry Bubbles And it's so cool. :p
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Hey Ocean song...remixed by Alex..
ReplyDelete*markus* NICE
ReplyDeletei liked it... a-lot!
I'm probably the only person on the site who didn't actually like this very much.
ReplyDeleteSorry Alex S. - You're awesome, but this one hasn't won me over.
I sex I sex I sex
ReplyDeleteWow! What a way to kick-start three months of pony! This was truly an awesome remix. Hey Ocean is awesome enough on its own merits. But you just can't ignore the simple fact that the voice behind Rainbow/AJ is in it! Even more awesome!
ReplyDeleteWell... I don't like it too much.
ReplyDeletePlease don't kill me.
@MCXD
ReplyDeleteGive it tiiime...
I'm concerned I might not like the original as much as I like this.
ReplyDeleteAh what am I saying, It's Hey Ocean! Of course I'll like the original.
Oi, Mr. S is serious about wanting to work with the VAs, isn't he...
ReplyDelete@kb
ReplyDeleteNo worries. Love and tolerance. Not everyone is going to love everything.
Alex...you're epic!
ReplyDeleteNot my style of music, eh.
ReplyDeleteFive stars though; it is really good!
I really don't like this song all that much to be honest. :/
ReplyDeleteEpic PMV incoming
ReplyDelete@yet2bedefined Hooray for loopholes?
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it. It's a good song and the remix did it justice. Great job, Alex. :)
ReplyDelete<3
ReplyDelete>Alex S. finally releases another song
ReplyDelete>Not the one that's supposedly done and everyone wants released
@MCXD
ReplyDeleteI don't enjoy his music that much either. Eh.
The remix is interesting, though I prefer the original. Still good though!
ReplyDeleteThe orig song is tight as well. love these songs man
ReplyDeleteGotta say listening to this why perusing all the save Derpy art is quite heart wrenching. Good song, and the fact it's RD and AJ together makes it all the better.
ReplyDeleteRight out of nowhere, man! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty much the highlight of my night.
ReplyDeleteI just finished having the greatest eargasm.
It's not really pony, so I gotta disagree with ya there Seth.
ReplyDeleteBut hot damn, I don't even care. It's amazing!
JESUS WOOOOOOW. THAT'S INCREDIBLE. :O
ReplyDeleteAlex S. Being a badass. Like always.
ReplyDeleteLove me some Alex S., but I'm on the fence about the track itself.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I actually still prefer the acoustic version the very best -- even over Hey Ocean's! official studio release. That being said, this is a pretty good remix. I don't think it was quite as imaginative as his other works though. Maybe I've come to expect too much from him because he's usually SO fantastic. (that's supposed to be a compliment I swear!) Still it's a nice listen!
ReplyDeleteEh, it's all right, I don't think it's-
ReplyDelete(Hits 1:45)
-AAAAAAAAAAAAAH-MY GAAAAAWD, like the singing of a thousand angels and they're all Ella Fitzgerald on heaping mountains of rainbow euphoria!! Holy cow, Alex, absolute homerun on this one, really takes a minute to hit its stride but when it does it's all sorts of magnanimous triumph assaulting the synapses!
I love Alex s. I really do. But this just wasn't as great as I had hoped
ReplyDeleteIt felt a little slow for me in the beginning, but it kicked it into high gear before long and I quite like it now. Pretty darn good remix.
ReplyDeleteit's a fine song, but it still ain't pony.
ReplyDelete@MedicShyIt's more or less Applejack and Rainbow Dash singing at once, with one of the leading pony musicians remixing it.
ReplyDeleteHow is it not pony?
Wait, how is this pony?
ReplyDelete@CaptainDash
ReplyDeleteThe remix isn't about pony.
The original song isn't about pony.
The singer may be the VA for pony characters, but the lyrics and singing voice is not related to those characters, nor is it inspired by the show.
Care to enlighten me? All I see is a popular artist getting featured with a dedicated post with a non-pony song, on a pony website, while many relatively unknown brony musicians get lumped into a combined post or don't get featured at all, despite actually making songs inspired by the show.
@Bombedrumbum I could see that.
ReplyDeleteThe original is infinitely better.
ReplyDeleteAlex really messed up the key of Ashleigh's voice and the whole thing sounds too monotone. But then, having a musical ear I guess this stuff just sticks out like a sore thumb.
Really should have left this one alone, or done it very differently.
Meh. This song lacks something distinctive. Just an another pop songs with a few tricks from club scene. To be forgotten after 30 minutes. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteIt's like RD and AJ are singing a duet (It should since it's Ashleigh Ball.). I like it. :D She should sing more in the show.
ReplyDeleteSeth breaking his rules again, non-pony stuff =D
ReplyDeleteAlex S is the best. Love this.
ReplyDelete@Navy Brony Alright, I'll admit that it's a little far that this got a dedicated post, and it's definitely unjust that some artist don't get a feature.
ReplyDeletePretty good song. Its probably gonna grow on me over time like most of Alex's stuff does.
ReplyDeleteAnd its Seth's blog. He can post whatever he feels like.
Though Party with Pinkie and 20% Cooler are better, this is still a fine song, and Alex S. definitely proved to me that pretty much everything he makes is worth listening to.
ReplyDeleteDiggin' this! BTW, Brohoof and Love to ALL my Bronies!!!
ReplyDeleteFrom what I gather, Alex S is pretty unique amoung brony remixes in that he uses no presets, all the sounds he uses he made himself.
ReplyDeleteAs for this song, its not bad, pretty good mix actually. Only problem is by stepping outside of the pony songs he is really the "big fish leaving the small pond to become a small fish in a big ocean". There are hundreds of not thousands of professional remixers that work on pop songs like this. I see nothing special about this remix that makes it stand out against the 1000s of other random pop song remixes out there : |
This is EPIC!
ReplyDeleteI didn't find the 20% Cooler remix that great before but DAMN did he exceed his standards this time!
ReplyDeletesage
ReplyDelete@Navy Brony
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. I'd like to see musicians like Derpidety getting his own dedicated posts, but alas that does not happen. I don't see how this warrants it's own post at all, it's not even that good of a remix.
<3 Dear sweet Celestia this is amazing!! :D
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I really DON'T like this style of music, although i really do want to. It just sounds like some more generic bullshit the music industry keeps pumping out. i swear i could have heard 200 songs like this by today's end. its just so... generic.

ReplyDeleteI never heard any other version so this is pure awesome to me. I usually don't like remixes so that's saying something to the merit of this remix. Good job.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteSome of these commentors don't seem to know how things work around here. Let me enlighten you: Whenever Alex S. does something that could even be remotely taken as pony music, he gets his own post.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's because he's a bawss.
