Time for another one of those crazy double feature music post things. First off we have a new song from General Mumble and Interrobang Pie. As is the norm for those two, I got somanyemails.
And if the electronic autotune stuff isn't your thing, I Bring Da LULZ has returned with a song dedicated to... wait for it... My Little Dashie. I honestly gave the fic a shot and couldn't get into it (Should have been Fluttershy imo!), but I know a ton of you were completely absorbed with it, so I'm sure it will hit home.
1.) General Mumble x Interrobang Pie - Strangely Obsessed
2.) Nameless Warning, I Bring Da LULZ - Dashie

Ooh General Mumble
ReplyDeleteJelly Pony ftw!
ReplyDeletehaha i literally just DL'ed both of these 5 mins ago
ReplyDeleteI bring da lulz... We have missed you.
ReplyDeletewho doesn't like some jelly in their neither regions... its so slippery and squishy... its so naughty.
ReplyDeleteDear Sweet Luna's combination shampoo and conditioner, that first one is the most disturbing thing I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteBut Seth, there IS a 'My Little Fluttershy'. I think it's called 'My Little Shy Friend'. I haven't read it, but I just thought you should know.
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah, My Little Dashie blows. Good music, though!
ReplyDeleteWell of course My Little Dashie absorbed me, I credit it to making me the Dash fan I am today, I adore anything associated with it
ReplyDeleteOh Seth, you heartless creature you.
ReplyDeleteStrangely Obsessed is one of the greatest things to ever happen in this fandom.
ReplyDelete#2 really good job
ReplyDelete#1 Jesus H. Christ! That's creepy!
ReplyDelete#2 Jesus H. Christ! That was sad!
#1 sounded flat, and what lyrics I could understand weren't very redeeming.
#2 Had an okay beat to it, but the video was strange. Some of the rhymes were off — because it was rap — and the genre doesn't really fit the mood of the story it's about.
@Masquerade
ReplyDeleteI think the saddest music but given so far was an instrumental version of Mad World done with a few lyrics
That or someone should make one
i bring the lawlz did not make this song any funnier:(
ReplyDeletePhew... didn't read it too, but that track is great!
ReplyDeleteBut Seth that fic was so sad.
ReplyDeleteYeah, first this show and fandom saves me from my jaded, angry self and re-sensitizes me to my emotions and makes me a human being again, then it assaults said newly reawakened emotions by introducing me to My Little Dashie. I can't help be absorbed by it, I owe at least a portion of my humanity to this show and MLD is an expression of the success of that.
ReplyDelete@acsinclair
ReplyDeleteTry having the first FiM fic you ever read be the one everyone was horrified by for a while, then reading MLD and saving it, reading whenever you get down...
Noooooo! My Little Dashie Stop reopening the wounds! danget I don't like rap but I thought it was good but the video part was odd....
ReplyDeleteMy Little Dashie is an excellent fic. . . the first time you read it. I made the mistake of going back to read it a second time, and I realized it's very badly written, and just sort of crude and awkward the whole way through. The concept is what gets people--it's what got me. The execution, though, leaves a lot to be desired.
ReplyDeleteThat second track was surprisingly emotional. It really made me think. Listened to it three times in a row, just to let it sink in.
ReplyDeleteStrangely Obsessed becomes a lot creepier when you imagine the horse in the jar as the one singing.
ReplyDeleteMLD leads you to view Rainbow Dash in a whole new way. Despite her brashness and boastfulness, after reading it you cannot help but feel that there's so much more to that Rainbow-maned mare. Stories untold, and all that. It truly is one of the best fics in the fandom, through its affirming narrative and sheer emotional power.
ReplyDelete@NorsePony Yeah, that's definitely true. If I hadn't turned my internal editor off I don't think it would've been as effective.
ReplyDeleteWow... Nameless and Lulz's song... just.. wow. I don't even know what to say to it, its just so... awesome.
ReplyDeleteFirst one is awesome, second one made me tear up. Both are lovely~
ReplyDeleteWow! Both of these were awesome. Best music post in a good while!
ReplyDelete@Masquerade
ReplyDeleteHe's taking an angry spin on it, emphasizing the regreats of the narrator
@SmylingBeast
ReplyDeleteI agree with you in every way, shape, and form, and it also shows the small light and hope humanity has to redeem our selves from the horrors we have committed.
@vettefanzr1
ReplyDeletePrecisely. A few years ago I would have laughed in the face of someone who told me that a My Little Pony fanfic would one day reduce me to tears and a state of gentle melancholy for days afterward, but I was proven so very wrong. And I'm very grateful for it.
"Should have been Fluttershy imo!" Exactly, that's your opinion. Had you bothered paying attention to MLD, you would have known it was based on a picture comic of a sleeping filly Dash found in a box in the human world. Will wonders ever cease?
ReplyDeleteI Bring Da LULZ... Y U NO BRING LULZ?!??!! T_T
ReplyDelete@NorsePony
ReplyDeleteI noticed the awkward writing the first time through. Thought the story was nice, but far from one of the best. Then I started (hah! As if I had a choice) imagining it as if I were the narrator, without the intermediary of text. The tab was rescued and added to my list of favorite stories. A few musical tributes later—specifically Pipsqueak's—and it was near the top of that list.
What I'm trying to say is that I actually found my second time through the story more pleasing. It all depends on the default state of your inner editor; mine's usually on, so I needed to know that there are quite a few grammatical problems, but the story is more than worth it so, for the moment, tie that voice up and leave it in the closet. Everyone will be happier (or not, if you look at it that way).
@SmylingBeast
I was the same, and I am actually surprised at how much it has helped me. MLP and its various songs, mostly, have made me laugh out loud for the first time in a while—often when I've been away from my computer for a while. MLD made me cry for the first time in years (followed quickly by Rarity's final act in FO:E, but still...) It's not that I don't feel emotions, it's just that I tend to not express them in particularly obvious ways. Laughter when you aren't used to it can be amazingly freeing.
the first one was hilariously creepy. the second one was great. Kind of sums up my feeling towards my lack of wings. it also reminded me a little bit of Bleed it Out by Linkin Park. not much but there were parts that sounded similar
